Dropping the price will help, but to catch the Wii, they have to lure nongamers to the table. Touting Blu Ray won't really work - unless you want gamers to snag one.
It may catch the 360, but not soon. By the time it does, who will care? The 720 will be out and owning them again.

The price drop is really the only important factor there. Everything else is negligible.
And regarding the price point SONY CANNOT win this generation. They will NOT be able to stop the Wii.

They can't beat nintendo and your suggestions might propel them past M$ but is it worth the cost?

They can't win this generation, but if they:
a) sell 50-60 million hardware units
b) nurture Blu-ray to mainstream hugeness
c) recoup some of the money lost
then I'll consider it a success.

Sony's down by 40 points with 3 minutes to play in the game, i don't see them coming back.
I think Sony is doing just fine right now....
Psp Sales are not bad at all about 50 Million...While not as good as the DS they have put a dent on their sells and has become a competitor for Nintendo...
After all these years Nintendo finally has competition in the handheld market...
The Ps3 is doing just fine at the price it is...I think Sony rather come in 3rd place than start losing major amounts of money if they drop the price to $300...it is only being outsold by the way cheaper 360 by 50000 units a week...If they do decide to drop the price that number will decrease if not dissapear in total
the ps3 will never outsell the wii.....a $300 PS3 by summer to go with killzone and ff in japan an GoW and GT and Uncharted two will dent the 360 pretty well this year.....who knows whats on tap for 2010 but theyll have to keep firing to pass the 360 which i think will eventually happen.
