Well then. I guess that only leaves one thing...

Pretty much (that is much catchier than it should be).

So you see this as a moral justification for piracy?

Moral justification... I'm not sure if I'm ready to say that. But from a practical standpoint, if people don't have a legal and reasonable method of acquiring a product they want, it's hard to complain when they turn to illegal means.

To put it another way, if it's impossible for the customer to pay the content creators, do the content creators have the right to complain that they aren't getting paid?

That tends to be the general stance, since there is no loss of profit for the creator, especially in a situation like this one.

@Mr Khan:

Would it be fair to assume that you don't see piracy as a viable alternative?

Piracy isn't something i'm comfortable getting into. Not from a legal perspective necessarily (i have the full series of both SWAT Kats and Megas XLR that mysteriously got on my hard drive), just that i have enough gaming going on without getting into the whole emulation scene. I mean, i have a game a month on my list through the end of the year, so long as nobody gets stupid about release scheduling

EarthBound would fall into AbandonWare now, pretty much. Nothing morally wrong about that, even if its not legal.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

i hate when nintendo screws us earthbound fans over

I own this:

Came with game, guide, and scratch'n'sniff cards.

I remember getting an Earthbound scratch 'n' sniff card in the mail! Was the first I ever heard of that wonderful game. Ah, memories...

In fairness, this isn't really Nintendo's fault.

@WoW: Oh if only the rest of us were so well-inclined.

I wish so too.

I saw it in a ShopKo or something when I was a lot younger and wound up getting it.  I had tons of fun playing it back then because everything in the game was hilarious from the random hippies that attacked you to the pizza delivery guy that delivered just about anywhere.  Everyone should get a chance to enjoy such a wonderfully crazy game.

I feel like I take away something new from it every time I play.

Lemme ask you: do you see it as morally justifiable to pirate the game at this point, assuming people cannot otherwise access it?

I owned this game for 2 years before I actually noticed Ness in the starman visor, I freaked out and thought it was cool.
