Great news.

cant wait

Congrats. Soon you will be sitting on a beach sipping margaritas somewhere with CjayC (the guy that started gamefaqs back in the 90s, eventually quit his day job and made that his full time job, and then sold it for an assload of money years later). You lucky bastard...alright time for me to do the same...I will create a grass roots site that uh...tracks and discusses and uh organizes...hot sauce....themed...beverages....Alright Cnet, I'm ready to sell.

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

- Change the ban system:  It is pretty obvious that this site has a lot of N/X/PS trolls.  A lot of them get banned for trolling and then get banned for a few days.  Then they come back and they just start trolling again.  Ban them for weeks/months and they will create an alt account.  Maybe change it with specific board bans.   If an obvious Sony fan is trolling on the MS board then take his ability away to post for a month on the Microsoft board.  For the users it will be better because the trolls are gone from their board for some time and 2) the trolls will not be encouraged to create an alt account to troll more.

This is actually a great idea.  Hopefully someone important sees it.

Don't know if I'm someone important, but I've seen it and like the idea. I will discuss it with the rest of the staff.

And some of the stuff that's coming will definitely enhance any VGC addictions!

or could you do some variation of the mediawiki (Wikipedia's software) method for blocking an account? namely, it blocks their access and also blocks the underlying IP address from creating an account and blocks any existing accounts that have accessed the site from that IP address. I know that wouldn't stop a determined user, but it could help prevent people from making as many alt accounts.

OT: dude that's pretty cool the site makes enough money for you to be able to work on it full time. http://www.alexa.com/data/details/traffic_details/vgchartz.com is pretty encouraging in that department as well. Keep up the great job guys!

Not trying to be a fanboy. Of course, it's hard when you own the best console eve... dang it

I think Brett's post pretty much confirms a VGChartz console...

First game, Super Ioi Galaxy... with Gears of Ioi and IoiZone 2 to follow.

Seems really exciting.

Congrats!

Anyway,

1) Some more uses for VG$. Contests of some kind? Privileges?

2) It should always remain free, that's the point of VGC in the first place...

3) Add a "Donate" button, though.

4) More reviews. I know there have been more reviews in the last four months than in the preceding three years, but keep going!

5) Give a front page link to the Prediction League. Newcomers have no idea where it is.

6) Add XBL and WW numbers to games. The data is there. Hopefully Sony will start releasing PSN numbers at some point.

7) Make adding games easier, something like Playfire. Type a game into a search bar, a list of games comes up. Select the one you own, choose the platform from a drop down list, and click "add".

8) Put PS2 numbers on the front page. It still sells.

9) The logo could use tweaking, it's a little...generic. But keep the name.

10) The ability to edit thread titles. Yes, I know you can just check, but you can't ALWAYS be right. Remember that "When will soy make a price cut?" thread? And all the replies involving Soya Sauce and beancurd?

11) An article on what each of the admins/mods/perhaps contributors is expecting out of 2009.

12) Posting is becoming a little slow. Could you see if you can fix that? It sometimes takes over a minute after I click the post button for the page to load.

13) Keep up the good work!

14) Oh and also, don't make us reset our post count. Please. Everyone will throw hissy fits.

These are all good points.
