I use different sites for different reasons:

Gamefaqs for game-specific stuff,

Kotaku for news-related,

(and Yahoo Answers for pure bizarre randomness).

What I like best here is the range of topics - they aren't limited by particular games or particular stories, only by whether anyone finds them interesting.

Plus, there seems to be a pretty wide variety of people.

What's there not to like about VG Chartz, you get weekly hardware and software numbers for all the consoles which is absolutely amazing, you have the game database that has almost every video game made and lots of info about them, also the VG Chartz community is absolutly epic, you can't find any other website where the people are smart, funny, motivated and very opionated, VG Chartz has the best community.

Not to mention the owner of the website can be pretty halarious at times (banning DMeisterJ for being a filthy site whore lmao).

The community isn't too big, a lot of gaming sites have thousands of active members and only complete a**holes or mass spammers ever get known, the rest fall into a faceless userbase. Not that the same doesn't happen here with a**holes and spammers, but others can still have a voice.

Is this community grew too big I'd leave.

I suppose the sales data can make for some varied discussions to other sites.

Yeah I agree I hope it doesn’t get too big as well.

You have to take into account the Nomad factor.  Nomad fanboys will stick around, so it should remain quite exclusive;)

I came for the sales, and stayed for the awesome community.

Something like that :)

Like most I came because I was interested in sales data. I joined up because it has a large (relativly) userbase that is fairly active. There is also a fair bit of intellegent observation and conjecture on the site which is rather nice. Given the userbase and the hardworking site staff this is a perfect way to streamline news. More often than not I can fin someone linked an article from another news source before I'd have time to find it out for myself.

vgc$ also make it very appealing and addictive.

(It's also a site that hasn't yet been bogged down with too many adds and other nuances that get blocked by my work's firewall)
