Forums - Nintendo - Why is the Conduit 'meh?'

To me, the most appealing thing about this game is the controls. That being said, I don't expect them to out perform Medal Of Honor: Heroes 2. That game has been out for quite a while and no one has matched it yet. The graphics really don't look that great to me, and I don't understand what exactly what it is that people are seeing that I'm not. Also, it looks like a very generic FPS. Aliens and bugs are not exciting to me anymore. They would have been ten years ago. You have two choices of things to shoot in a FPS these days. They are aliens and nazis. Also, local multiplayer is essential to casual gamers like me. Meh.

Technically the graphics are good, but yes they are otherwise pretty bog-standard art direction, perhaps it will look better when I buy it and play it but I am not too fussed about how it looks to be honest, the graphics are not significantly more dull than all the other FPS I have seen videos, except perhaps the alien enemies, which I could probably have designed better myself.

I am buying it because of the controls... FPS need custom controls IMO, that was partly why I loved TS2, and The Conduit seems to be taking that to another level.

They've been there and done that :P

It's just the opposite of 'meh'.

It just remings me of metroid 2...

FPS is a stale genre and the Conduit doesn't exactly look revolutionary. Couple that with the fact that High Voltage has been a very mediocre developer in the past and I find it difficult to get excited about the Conduit.

Because we Wii-only owners haven't had anything like it yet (that is, a game worked hard on by a 3rd party in an undeveloped genre (on the Wii)). Furthermore, some of the excitement is generated by the looks of the controls, somewhat akin to the graphics of KZ2 (not this there proven to be incredible yet, but I'm hopeful).

To lavish praise upon this title, the assumption of a common plateau between player and game must be made.  I won't open my unworthy mouth.

Thank you. Yes. Zombies. If someone were to make a FPS featuring alien nazi zombies, that would be a huge seller.

Yes, the Wiimote is too slow for fps for me. I demand response so fast it nearly happens before I actually move.I don't have numbers in ms for the Wii but it's definetly higher than for a good mouse, with a good monitor.
