@ dirty, it was 640p, which is obviously why nobody bought it, as it looked so terrible

it's been confirmed on GAF that in battle gameplay the game is 60 fps (great) but with no Anti aliasing whatsoever (WTF?) and almost SD resolution (God no) !
and this is coming from the best coders in the world on the easiest console to code for, sad :(
and people critizise me for asking this question: WTF happened to you Square Enix ?
@momo_x
I don't think the native resolution is _that_ important, really... the game is pleasant enough to look at (on the other hand I can't stand the character design and the overdone effects)
But how should that movie be proof of the native resolution? A movie in 720p proves nothing, because the point is that the game is _rendered_ at 510p and then upscaled for the TV (or for recording). And even with a naked eye and in motion, you can spot a numer of upscaling artifacts.
Oh, well, as I said it's not that bad when in motion... but those characters kill it for me...
Could they have possibly done this to save space to be able to fit more on the disc? Either way, I could care less...you people are too graphicy whorey. The game is still going to be good, I don't care if it looks like a next gen (post-ps3/360 era) or 3rd gen.

Resolution has little/nothing to do with media size. There were plenty of CD-ROM games (maybe even floppy disk ones) which ran at HD resolutions back in the 90s.
Damn, after writing that I just realized the 90s were so long ago.
My Mario Kart Wii friend code: 2707-1866-0957
I can hear Rol laughing from the other side of the planet right now.
Isn't there some peeps here who brought the game today in Japan who could tell us what is says at the back of the cover regarding the Resolution?

I can make an excellent guess that the game packaging probably says, outputs at 720p, 1080i and 1080p. Although I would like to inform you that those numbers have nothing to do with the resolution the game was rendered at.
