I dont think GT will ever get damage, way too many legal hurdles

i dont understand quite fully why there would be any legal hurdles.  care to explain??

anyways...hmmm...like one of the guys from the other site said....it'd be great if it was about a working clutch...i'd just hope there's a pedal box with clutch that greatly mimics a real car clutch....

Yamauchi who makes the GT games wants realistic damage in his games and not arcade damage such as you would find in Forza.

So with that said the car companies are just not allowing Yamauchi to add damage to their cars in the game. They are saying arcade damage is fine but PD do not want that so I do not see damage being implemented into the game. Something has happened at PD anyway which is said to be huge, we shall soon see if it is GT5 damage, the game being ready, weather or something else.

I thought the reason they have the hurdles around damage is because unlike other devs, Polyphony doesn't pay for the licenses to use the cars, it's just given to them, thus the car maker gets to make some limitations.

Really though, this game needs to get moving and out the door by November. Enough is enough.

That is basically the case.  Most car manufacturers consider GT to be excellent (and free) advertising for their cars.  Some models (particularly from Nissan, I believe) were only brought out of Japan after the release GT1/2, due to the increased in popularity the games provided.

GT5 to include MONSTER TRUCKS!... Yeah!

lol! YES!

Anyways, I can't wait to see what they've cooked up. They truly are phenominal devs.

@ Soriku

What other ridicoulous polished games take less than 3 years to make?

When GT5P was released there were talking about adding damages but also day/night cycle and changing atmospheric conditions... maybe we'll get the full package.

Misleading thread.
Where's the cake?

Maybe the huge thing is that they might actually finish a game!!! GT 4 came out in Japan in late 04

Something so big is cooking, you can't even imagine the size of it.

Massive improvements to GT5 over Prologue including detailed car damage, Day and Night as well as realistic weather effects. Possibly Lamborghinis and Porches included bringing the overall car total to over 1000.

And there is something else cooking, which you can't even imagine the price of it.

Could mean many things. Perhaps it's hinting at a special pricey feature along the lines of GTTV or possibly a limited edition premium GT5 PS3 bundle with a steering wheel or even a whole arcade kiosk.

And the third thing is also in the oven, but you can't even imagine it's even baking.

Seems like a reference to a second project alongside Gran Turismo 5. A PSP Gran Turismo seems like a obvious answer, but that's hardly unimaginable since such a thing was announced years ago. Then again, perhaps he's talking about the 3D technology we were shown at CES.

And besides that third thing there is something else in the oven, I'd say it's the oven itself.

Seems like an obvious hint at something PS3 related. Likely a bundle of some sort, but the wording makes it seem like more than that.

And I guess everything will be presented in the gala dinner in the weeks or months to come, but at the E3 latest.

Self-explainitory. We'll be given the details to all this sometime between now and E3 in early June. GDC is right around the corner too.

And then you'll find out that day of the Fiest is also known even today.

Pretty obvious. Sony already has a tentative release date planned for GT5 at least Japan and is just waiting to reveal it to us. 2009 is looking more and more likely.

i guess its the damage,i hope

$1 per car download.
$499.99 for all 1000 cars.

That'll make them some money :)
