Forums - Nintendo - Let EA know your Dead Space dissapointment

I think the game sounds promising. The trailer looked atmospheric enough, and there's a lot they could do by working with Dead Space's dismemberment mechanics in a rail-shooter. Lots of games have it in some degree, but I don't think many have made it a central gameplay element.

Also, I honestly think porting HD games to the Wii is a bit pointless in most cases. Adapting a game to a less powerful console usually means something is lost, and a game designed for a traditional pad will never be able to fully take advantage of the Wii's strenghts. RE4 was nice when there were few games available, but IMHO it's a bit late for that stuff now. =P

wow, you guys don't complain this much when killzone 2 comes out, or Call of Duty 6, or FPS 9348284 comes out.

such whiners and complainers...

QFT.  Get over it people.  No one complains when something generic on the other consoles comes out.  Actually they praise it.  As soon as something you don't expect comes out on the Wii you bash it til the end without justification I might ad.  Quit your whining and wait til you no more.  If you don't like light gun shooters then deal with it.  You don't have to get it.  Buy a PS3 or 360 and get Dead Space or if you've already played it wait for the sequel.  No one is saying you have to like it.  But for the rest of us that are mildly interested or like on rails shooters we don't want to here your incessant complaining about everything just because YOU are dissatified.

I think EA is right in you can never satisfy these so called "hardcore" gamers.  They complain about bad Wii ports so they start from scratch and ya still complain.  If they had done a 3rd person game instead you'd all complain it was a bad Wii port.  I mean your doing it with Capcom on Dead Rising.  It's annoying and I'm tired of these Wii fanboys doing that or whoever is contributing.  It is really getting on my nerves becasue bitching is not somethign that goes over well with me.  If ya don't like what someone is doing fine but have a little dignity for oneself and respect for others who might actually like it.  It's only the right thing to do.

Now I haven't seen enough to really give a full opinion on whether I'm sold but I am mildly interested in the prospects of this.  On rails games are something I enjoy so I'll wait for more info and stuff at E3.  But I must say graphics are quite good for a Wii game if those are running on the engine.

KZ 2 and CoD 6 actually appear to be good games while Dead Space (imo) was shit to begin with, perhaps that has something to do with it for some? You do realize than some folks earnestly don't like something without being either a fanboy or an idiotic sheep (like you suggest in sync with BengaBenga) or both.

Stop being so full of yourselves, lately, no one is entitled to any kind of opinion in here without being labelled some kind of driveling idiot. Now, of course, I didn't like Bioshcok, F.E.A.R or Crysis at all so perhaps my opinion on the matter doesn't count (since, clearly, I dare not to like highly reviewed games, I mean, I get that a lot in here)?

Hey, I'm not saying you can't be dissapointed. Not at all. I fully understand most people expected and hoped for a 3rd person shooter.

But what I really can't stand is the attitude that people are emailing EA and making a petition based on nothing. The trailer looks great, the game is being made by the AAA team that made the HD game and a game like Killer 7 or Sin and Punishment proves that on rails doesn't mean plain lightgun shooting.

There's something really wrong when an announcement like described above actually leads to forums (cause it's not only here) exploding. Dissapointment: yes, anger: wtf? I really mean it that in the old days people were just having fun playing the games they received, nowadays there's some form of entitlement and drive to a single genre. And the strange thing is that Nintendo fans, those that should love new and original gaming experiences (ever since NES mind you), are complaining the loudest.

And yes, I do realize I'm lucky for being able to afford a Wii and a 360, so the need for a 3rd person shooter is not that big for me.

-Killer 7 and Sin & Punishment are good in their own way but come on these games sold poorly for a reason; they have limited appeal and so does an on rails verison of Dead Space.

-I like new and original experiences from video games; thats why I wanted to experience Dead Space TPS game with the Wii remote not Dead Space on rails.

-I can afford both a Wii and 360, I would just rather play a game like that with the Wii remote for superior control and gladly take the graphical downgrade, which isn't that obvious if devs know what their doing.

-This would be just as bad as Microsoft announcing that Gears of War 3 will be on rails, it's a piss poor idea and the news would go over like a lead balloon.  The decision makers at EA need to be canned.

Agreed. There have certainly been letdowns this gen for me as well but I try to just get something else to play instead and just move on as best I can but if the game is truly horrid it can be hard to refrain from whining a bit... . The whole "boycot developer A or B for not doing C or D" also was getting out of hand for a while. Like I said in my previous post; if this is truly the greatest gen ever (like many seem to think and feel in here) then why so glum? There should be plenty of high points!

^The main reason Sin & Punishment sold poorly was the fact it never got released outside of Japan

I agree with you that the Wiimote is perfect for shooters and I would also get a Wii version of a game over a graphically superior HD version due to controls. But contrary to you I'm interested in what Redwood can make on Wii with an on rails game. It could become very cinematic and great. It might suck as well. But we won't know until it's out.

Don't forget that Dead Space bombed (according to EA) as a TPS. It's not strange they try something else.

I think people are just sick of getting the bait & switch with every franchise that comes to Wii. It's a parade of genre-busting spinoffs with little in common with the parent franchise besides the IP, and low budgets in common with each other.

Hey, you're getting Dead Space, a third person horror/shooter. Just kidding, it's a rail shooter.

Hey, you're getting a new Resident Evil. A third person survival/horror game? Nope, yours is a rail shooter.

Hey, you're getting a new Soul Calibur fighter! And by fighter, we mean a cheapass hack & slash.

How about a new Castlevania game? Platforming and powerups? No, yours will be a 3D fighting game!

This is the big problem.  There would have been no complaining had this game been a new IP.  Alternatively, EA could have squashed the Dead Space rumors as soon as they started.  Hell, they didn't even need to give everything away.  They should have just said that the Wii would be getting an entirely new game based on the Dead Space IP.  Then everyone would have been happy.

Well i am a bit bummed out that the original Dead Space wont be on Wii (or a game in the similar manner), but ill keep my eyes open on this one. Personally i havent ever been afraid while playing an on-rails shooter (havent played REUC, if it means anything), so i dont know how the game will hold up, but hopefully itll be great.

Did anyone really expect anything different though? I mean, it is EA, and it is the wii....

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD
