It's like saying "no, no, no. The wii can't handle a third person shooter." So, you and the whiners on this board know exactly what this game is and isn't already, without seeing or playing it and can fill the rest of us in on how its going to suck...and that EA are lazy tools. Well, thanks so much for the enlightenment from all of you. I wish the other hopefuls and myself had your foresight to know all this before the game gets a chance to prove itself one way or the other, so we could bitch too. how rediculous. the whole immediate "oh, its on rails?!? then it sucks" frame of mind really takes the cake too. Like a really well done rails game with new ideas and direction would never be able to say, be kick ass, or earn game of the year...just because. pitiful - kw

You point fingers at people making assumptions based on little to no knowledge of the game and the concept behind, yet; what is this? Assumptions based on little to no knowledge of the game and the concept behind?
Just had to point that out, when having a go at the more eloquent users such as vagabond, it might be a good idea to build an argument that doesn't build on the exact same premise as the one you're trying to deflate, someone might notice...

Unfortunately for you, you read quickly and misunderstood what I was saying in the sentence you bolded. I was not infering that dead space in particular IS going to be this awesome game that could win awards. I don't know that, and was not trying to infer that.
I was merely stating that its rediculous for people to totally bash rail shooters as a genre, as if they could never be done so well as to blow people's minds and win awards. That's all I'm saying, is that people need to give games of all types a chance to prove themselves one way or another. Before they praise or condemn them.
Still feeling as cocky?

And awesome.
Man I love killer 7.
Well Gamecube anyway.... PS2 controls suck.

First off; name one, only one will suffice. Second; denying that most on rails shooters are a step back from third person shooters (which you didn't openly say, I'm simply musing over the fact that this must be your stance on the issue) is very strange indeed, even as a person who absolutely hates 3rd person shooters I'll easily confirm that, as a genre, they're a whole lot more engaging and fun and the depth will almost always be far ahead of any on rails shooter.
My point is that on rails shooters have never proven themselves to be particularly worthwhile on home consoles while 3rd person shooters have and that the whining in this case is totally understandable, seeing as Dead Space was a well reviewed and well recieved game on the HD platforms and seems to have been torn and reduced into a rather cheap halfassed spin-off, more or less, that shortsticks Wii users. Expecting this iteration of Dead Space to perform anywhere near the original in quality and value (note; I hated Dead Space but the world didn't, it seems) is quite naive in my opinion (game of the year, look up previous winners, it should deterr you from thinking an on rails shooter will ever even be close).
Cocky, eh? I certainly don't see myself being worse than you in this case, leaping into the air to defend a genre that's been virtually dead since the glory days of arcades and proclaiming that there's no need to feel disappointed in losing the opportunity to play a game the way it was originally meant to be played (again). Either, you are very fond of on rails games or you don't realize that the rest of the world really isn't. Even if one on rails shooter one day turned out both fantastic with revolutionary gameplay (allthough, it is quite limited how you can execute such games) and awesome mechanics that scores very high and sells bucketloads, it still means nothing in regards to this particular title, which is what vagabond was talking about. Based on the history of this genre on home consoles, we have no reason to believe that this will be a great game, perhaps not even good and if you can't recognize that, then I don't think there's much else I can do.
PS: I really don't get why some posters sign their posts with username or initials, its not a letter to the state nor is it ever hard to distinguish your posts from others. What's the point? (Off topic, yes, just curious, several people in here do this).
1. Killer 7 is awesome.
2.This will not be killer 7.
Killer 7 is hardly an on rails shooter. It's a completely unique game that defies any genre label. Your movement is limited, but you still have total control over it. You can go forwards backwards, choose your paths, explore, solve puzzles, get lost, find your way, ect. It's only first person when you decide to shoot, and creative directing the rest of the time. The odds of this being anything like Killer 7 is zero. If it was, the PR guys wouldn't use a term that conjurs up HoTD and Umbrella chonicles readily, they would object when the interviewer relates it to UC. This will be UC in the deadspace universe. I will play it because I love deadspace, it will be a good on rails shooter no doubt, but this is still like finding out the sequel to No More Heroes is a kart racing game. Even if it's a good racing game, the wii already has a ton of kart games and few action games, and what the hell is No More Heroes doing as a racer?

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

@ OP - we expected a late port of a 360 game with tacked on motion controls. Now we get a new game built from the ground up around next gen controls.
I have 2 questions
How does one email a high five?
What's an email address I can use to contact EA?
Come on, give EA a chance they could make this a really good game.
OP - why bash a game before any gameplay is shown? have you ever played Sin & Punishment?
MikeB predicts that the PS3 will sell about 140 million units by the end of 2016 and triple the amount of 360s in the long run.
