Forums - Microsoft - Rumor: Microsoft Thinking About Non-Gaming Achievements?

"G) In-game rewards " - A couple Mass Effect Achievements did offer in game rewards

Yes, and that should be used far more, it is a great idea

I just think what they need to do first is to give me a gears of war hoodie for getting 1175g

I am not sure about this, I think they should be reserved for gaming purposes only, your gamerscore, is a reflection on your gaming abilites (well not neccessarily abilites) and dedication to gaming, I would not really like if I was forced to watch tons of DVDs (and don't say they're not forcing me!)

Love the product, not the company. They love your money, not you.

LOL.

I agree with more achievement tracking – I’m not one to look up the requirements for the different achievements in a game, but if I’m alerted to the fact that I’m well on my way, I’ll be more inclined to go out of my way to get them.

I think MS has some way to go in getting people to actually care about achievements, adding extra 'non-gaming' ways to increase a superfluous number, which seems solely about bragging rights, demeans its significance and largely makes acquiring them futile as you’re no longer in the upper echelon of gamer status through your fine-tuned skills but through watching more DVDs. They need to make me care about earning achievements. In-game rewards, avatar clothing and more importantly MS point rewards are far better suggestions.

I don't know how it would work, but I tink it hurts nothing to add them.

They are really trying to get people hooked on every facet of the 360 I guess. There are many achievement whores out there and they would probably love this stuff.

QFT.

PREDICTIONS:
(Predicted on 5/31/11) END of 2011 Sales - Xbox 360 = 62M;  PS3 = 59M;  Wii = 97M

Achievement unlocked (You have owned a 360 for over 2 years)

Achievement unlocked (you have played over 100 xbox 360 games)

Achievement unlocked (you have played over 20 xbla games)

This just may work.......................

Would show a persons time and devotion to the mighty 360.

I think it's a dumb idea mostly because I'm not to crazy about achievements/trophies in the first place.

I mean I can just imagine how many people are going to be moving their Xbox all over the house just to get some gay achievement for watching 50 dvds.

Awesome. I can see it now.

Achievement unlocked: Love Machine. You had sexual relations with your xbox.

Achievement unlocked: Lucky SOB. Your xbox survived a year without getting the RROD.

PS. This is a joke post obviously. I kind of like the idea.

Achievement Unlocked "You have survived the RROD for 3 years, now your warranty is out. Good Luck."
