Oh, and frames per second are overrated.

You have lost all credibility for me with that comment

I bet 720p@30fps will be ok for ps owners, but for me wouldn't be acceptable. If it was 720p, I would have asked for 60fps. If 30fps, 1080p would make for it.

I don't think that this game would suck because of that, but I'm pretty sure the PS3 could handle 720p@60fps... hell, I even think the 360 could do it (yes, I'm considering the level of detail of the game). Too bad Guerrilla can't do it.

And what is the big advantge with 1080p and 60fps ?

Actually 1080p wouldn't make a lot of difference, but considering this is a FPS, and and action-heavy FPS, 60 fps would make a difference.

1080p makes it look real nice. 60 fps makes it play smoother.

my pillars of gaming: kh, naughty dog, insomniac, ssb, gow, ff

i officially boycott boycotts.  crap.

To everyone saying "oh 720p, the 360 can do that" yes it can, but only to an extent. Last gen every console did 480p, but a lot of Xbox games couldn't be done on PS2. This gen is just the other way around, both systems can do 1080p 60fps, but what makes the differance is what they are capable of at that resilotion. Killzone is an example of a game at 720p that the Xbox just can not do at the same quality, same as GT5 is an example of a game at 1080p the 360 could not do at the same level. That is not to say that the game could not be done on the 360. Every game that comes out for the Wii, PS3, and 360 can be done on all three systems, plus all three last gen systems.

If Sony was doing an exact replica of Halo 3 no changes to graphics, AI it would run at 1080p 30fps easly. The reason Killzone is running at that rate and resolution, is because of all the stuff going on. Everything is just at a higher level then any other game. Their are more polygons, more physics, more effects, more lighting, more sound, and more caos going on in every screen than in any other game ever made for a home console.

Their is no reason to try and fight about weather or not the 360 is more powerful than the PS3 or visa versa. In reality they from a CPU GPU stand point are equal, however, the PS3 is the more flexable system, because of the ability for the to to work together. Once Dev's learned to use them to their advantage as Polyphony, Naughty Dog, Guerrilla, and Insomniac have done PS3 games will all be better graphically than the 360, and it will be by a bigger margin than XB to PS2. You just have to look at what Sony did with the much weaker PS2 chipset with the same design compared to the much more powerful chips of the Xbox. Games like God of War 1, (especially 2), Gran Turismo 4 (1080i 60fps), R&C, and Jak were all very comparable to the Xbox games because of that design.

IT seems to me that K2 is coming out 18 months after Gears of War on a system that is HARDER to develop for and it only looks marginally better.  What exactly makes you think that at 720p and 30fps, the 360 isn't capable of graphics as good and better than this given the extra development time? Seems to me this game is a step up from GoW, but not a significant one.

It looks good. As for the faded colors and dark scenery, they're just treading the ground they initially wanted to with the prequel so it's hardly a reason to think less of the game.
Like all FPS', it will appeal to some, but not the majority of console players.

The 30fps thing is stupid. Somebody (from when I skimmed the first couple of posts) already mentioned Resistance. Resistance runs flawlessly at 30fps even with everything going on. Actually, the frame rate was only noticbly lower in one or two points in the entire game.

The people trolling and stirring up others in this thread are funny. First it was "Games don't need 1080p. Hell, not enough people have the TV's to be able to support that high resolution and most of them aren't large enough to notice the 1080p difference!". My my, how the tides have turned when you want to pull people's strings.

wait which parts made it so you could tell? even in the most action heavy parts I never saw a single slow down and thats when there was hundreds of those crawling fast/smart things, forget what they were called.

1080p isnt the resolution of this generation, 720p/1080i is. Game that can run at 1080p with a stable framerate and be a decent - good game all the power to them. The majority of games I see from Sony running at 1080p 60fps are all the downloadable games like Calling All Cars which runs at 1080p 60fps.

The one area where I noticed it (and could make it drop) was underground in the large room where you fight the Chimera right before you meet the first Angel. When the tunneling machine comes through, I noticed the frame rate drop a little bit when you get up as high as you can in the room and look around. I don't remember where another area was, but I know I was able to do it where I just mentioned.

The only place I noticed any slowdown in that whole game was the aforementioned area, but only because I was playing through it on co-op with my brother, and we were both gratuitously whipping backlash grenades around, and those power cell things started exploding and flying all over the place (i couldn't believe we both got out alive) ((Resistance kicks ASS. Apostrovich=Maxed out Supreme Commander)).

Also, if Resistance was 30 fps, that's fine with me. I have probably the worst 30 inch tv I've ever seen, and I doubt I'll be getting a new one anytime soon. When I do, I'm going to try to get an HD one, if only because Resistance looked so much better on my cousins HDTV, and Killzone would be awesome on it.
