Forums - Sony - Things You May Not Have Noticed In The Killzone 2 Demo

Warning this article contain what little spoilers there are in the Killzone 2 demo.

I’ve played the Killzone 2 demo more times than I care to mention. That means upwards of 5! And, just for you lucky, lucky people, here is a list of thing you may not have noticed while blasting those red-eyed baldies.

The Red Flags

Just as you get out of the craft, the very start of the demo, you should be facing a building across the river. Now, see those 3 red flags? Take a minute to watch them. It’s amazing the detail that goes into Killzone - not one looks pre-rendered or has the same movements as the other. Good start, then.

The Blood

So, you’ve popped your first Helghast. Well done. After clearing out his mates, look at the blood. All red and fresh, eh? Stick around for a while, and then look at it. The blood seems to rust, and stick to the surface. Once again, the OCD levels of detail in the Demo scare me.

Kicking Up Wind

Blow up the bridge. Watch pretty explosion. Run forward. As you do, an ISA APC should swoop over your head, and just over through where the bridge once arched, kick up a whole lot of swirling, High-Def wind. Wow.

The Knife

When you first press right on the D-pad, it’s a little weird to have the knife suddenly be swiped 2 times. Is that just showing off? No. It’s yet another thing that makes the gameplay so fluid. Instead of having to take out your knife, wait, then swipe, it does it right after you un-sheath it, meaning and Helghan who surprised you get a face full of blade. Yum.

Teammates? What teammates?

Just before you press O to climb up to the elevator, turn back, and look at where you just came from. See those 3 ISA dudes just…doing nothing? Teach them a lesson and shoot them from long range. Suddenly, all the ISA turn on you, including the unkillable Rico. Serves you right.

Titch

Walk straight up to one of you teammates. You only reach his nipples. I don’t know what to make of this. Short people FTW?

The Other Gun

To the untrained eye, there are 3 guns in the demo - The ISA rifle, the Helghast Rifle, and the RPG. There are actually 4. When you enter the warehouse, look for a Red-Eye on the top of one of the buildings. Time it right, and shoot him so that he falls off. Rush over to him, and pick up his awesome rifle. It’s a sort of upgraded M21 - You’ll have about 14 bullets, and it’s perfect for headshots. Shoot away…

The End Video

Complete the Demo, and you’re treated to the ‘Ballet Of Death’. Yeah, It looks awesome. But watch the movements closely. If the whole world were to be going THAT slow, Sev (you) wouldn’t be able to turn THAT quickly, right? Maybe complete the game to unlock a special slow-mo ability? Who knows…

That’s most of the things I’ve noticed in the Killzone 2 Demo. If you have any more, feel free to submit them to the PS3 EU Blog! Happy Helghast Hunting!

Not sure if this has been posted before sinse it's a few days old, is so just lock. ^I never noticed most of those things, I'm gonna go see what 4th gun he's talking about.

I noticed every thing except the WIND...I played the demo 4 times and never noticed it.

one thing i noticed is that when you get to the warehouse, you leave footprints of mud from the wet sand on the beach.

I noticed "Kicking Up Wind", "The Knife", "The Other Gun" and "Teammates? What Teammates?"

(Former) Lead Moderator and (Eternal) VGC Detective

I've played the demo up to 15 times now and didn't notice the flags or the blood. I had fun killing my teammates. Even though you can't kill Rico but you can put him down on the ground and continue to beat the shit out of him as his blood covers your screen. >:)

Cool I'll have to try the 4th gun. I noticed a lot of the other things though.

Some other things I noticed:

-- Shoot the chairs in the warehouse. Feathers billow out of the cushions.

-- Shoot the cabinets in the warhouse too. They react to your bullets, pinging in and out. 'tis fun.

-- If you carry the RPG over and have enough grenades, you can blow up one of the tank things.

-- After you've helped Garza climb up, jump down. He'll then pull you up.

-- If you look at the subtitles, you'll notice that one of the people giving you orders is Jan Templar, the main character from Killzone 1 and Killzone: Liberation, who is now a Colonel.

-- At the end of the demo, before going through the door that ends it, aim through it. There's a little object hidden high up. Shoot it, and then press 'select'. You'll notice that you've just found one of the game's hidden objects. (Presumably shooting them all in the final game will reward you with a trophy.)

-- If you rush out fast enough, you can get one of the flying things to land on you. You then teleport onto the top of it, and when it lifts up, you'll go flying with it. Jump off quickly though, as you'll die. If you time your jump right, you can land on top of the building to your right, which lets you use the mounted machine gun, and explore other (glitchy) parts of the level that you're not meant to be able to access.

-- Notice how your teammates and enemies react to your play style:

----- Charge out all alone, and Garza will yell for you to get some cover, whilst the Helghast will get into a good defensive position and rape you with bullets.

----- Cower behind cover a lot, and Garza will tell you to get out and do some killin', whilst the Helghast will take the opportunity to rush and flank you.

----- Keep an Helghast pinned down whilst he's in cover, and he'll start blind firing at you instead of aiming.

---- Charge at a Higg with your knife - notice how he panics as you close in on him.

Thats funny because I did notice this, but I didn't pick up on the fact that you could kill a helghast with the swipe when you pull it out. I thought you had to wait for the first "swipe" before you could use it to kill. My friend came over and told me the knife thing.
