Forums - Sony - I dont get Sony marketing.....

In the UK.. over xmas there were hardly any PS3 ads... all PSP (and even then it was about multimedia rather than games)

Now, over ther last feew days I have finally seen quite a few PS3 ads...

Guess what games they are promoting... Killzone2?

Nah... Motorstorm Pacific Rift and LBP... why!?  admittedly LBP is still shifting some units but it seems very odd...

why not get some momentum for KZ2 going and remind everyone about SFIV?

For SFIV I don't know why don't know why Sony would be apart of that besides for Capcom. I think Sony right now as a company is just being a little girl. They are pinching as many pennies as they can until the price drop. KZ2's marketing might be reasoning for this, but really it's all up in the air. KZ2 is going to be the biggest game of the year for the PS3, so I can't understand why they wouldn't take a shot with commercialization.

we should see KZ2 ads next week or a day or 2 before its lunch
SFIV ads has nothing to do with sony thats capcoms problem

I agree with u
Sony marketing sucks
They need a new team of marketing like young people not "old ppl"

There would be no point for ads by then from Sony.

Sony aren't made of money. They're not going to advertise a game eleven days from its release. Expect the Killzone 2 ads to begin in around four days.

Sony doesn't advertise SFIV, Capcom does.

I've seen tons of SFIV commercials, but hey, thats Capcom. Everyone knows that Sony HATES marketing!! If Killzone was being released by M$, there would be a Mountain Dew tie-in, and billboard on busses.

Ninty would have tons of commercials too. Just look at Mario Sluggers, and Wii Music commercials.

But its Sony....so nothing. Then they'll sit around wondering why its not selling.

@kantor... microsoft have advertised many 3rd party multiplats over here... just throwing the 360 logo on the end. Maybe thats another reason why they are winning in the uk?

Microsoft, on the other hand, are made of money. Windows has a good 90% marketshare, people pay for Live Gold on their Xbox 360s, the 360 sells insane amounts of software, and they're only making a tiny loss on hardware.

They could stand at a street corner and give out 360s for free for three months and still make a profit, I swear.

The only way Sony has any chance of recouping all of their investment in KZ2 is with a good add campaign.  They have had an extremely long develpment cycle that has cost them 10's of millions of Dollars. If they don't cough up the extra dough for marketing there is absolutely no chance this game will make its money back.  If they sit back and anyone other than the hardcore market doesn't know you have a killer game it does them no good.  They should have already marketted this puppy out the ass and had deals done with fast food and any other kind of outlet possible.  Sure it would cost them a lot more money upfront but I don't think Sony could afford not to do this.  Another sub par performance on its first party game will not look good and possibly cause them to make cutbacks in the first party arena.  Which is not a good thing if your a gamer.

The £2million KZ2 advertising campaign for the UK is supposed to start midway through February, so perhaps starting from Monday onwards?

LBP and MS2 adverts have been going in since before Christmas. I haven't seen an ad for either in the past month or so.

Then again, I don't watch any TV anymore, just BBC iPlayer whenever I want to watch anything worth watching.
