Forums - Sales - Japanese First Day Sales (FF:CC = Meh)

It seems the rating of FF:CC is very well. So it may be great sales in weekend.

From the biginning, many people took a wait-and-see attitude and they waited ratings by the purchasers. By this good ratings, there is a possibility they ran(will run) out to buy it with ease...

FF VII CC looks like a pretty good game, but the japanese are very unpredictable kber.

I doubt Crisis Core is going to have that much better success than Crystal Chronicles.

Speaking of which, I think they should drop the FF moniker by now and just call it Crystal Chronicles. Do what they did with Seiken Densetsu by establishing it as a separate franchise with its own unique characteristics. It's not like the series isn't already well on its way in that direction anyway.

Tag - "No trolling on my watch!"

First question that comes to my mind is why didn't you either.

A. Put the DS = Gamecube Numbers in the topic

or

B. At least say that in your first post.

Because 120K overall for the first day isn't bad alot of companies would kill for that number. The way the topic sounds it's like stinker bad (20 K or less).

Boycotting the following:

1. Yoshi: He ate my car and spit out a toaster.

2. Igglybuff: Totally false advertisement. You can have as many as you like they don't buff nothing.

3. the Terms Hardcore/Softcore... We're talking Video Games. Not Porn.

4. The term Casual as relates to Gamers: We make them sound like outsider's that happen to play games.  If that were the case they'd own a PS3.

5. Donuts.... Beacause I drink Beer...... and the biggest fan of Donuts hates Beer.

6. Boycotts: Their so lame.

Not a bet I'd take, but how confident about Crisis Core are you? Confident enough to wager it against DQIX?

In Japan alone? Nope. I expect it to move around 350k - 500k copies during week one. It's enough to trample Crystal. 1 million lifetime in Japan alone. 2,5 - 3,0 million worldwide. DQIX has no release date so far... I don't expect it to hit stores this year.

DQIX will sell more in its first day than any PSP game will sell total in Japan. And really this whole "FF:CC is dissapoining in sales" thing is just stupid. Since when has there ever been incredibly high expectations for the Crystal Chronical series? People are acting like the downward spiral of FF in Japan is happening, but Square is laughing all the way to the bank.

Knowing that, I think that game will have legs.

Looking at the sales of Dragon Quest Swords, I think there is a huge difference between first week sales and legs for S-E games. In the first week, the buyers seem to be the fanbase, while the purchases afterwards heavily depend on quality.

Also remembering that FF:CC:RoF is the sequel of a spin-off, the first-day sales are not too bad. Since it's not a game from the actual series nor a direct spin-off were you meet your beloved characters again, the fanbase isn't too big. But with good word of mouth, the game can easily sell in the range of 750k in Japan alone.

Currently Playing: Skies of Arcadia Legends (GC), Dragon Quest IV (DS)

Last Game beaten: The Rub Rabbits(DS)

Someone explain to me why 120k 1st-day is a BAD result. It has a good chance of selling through the week/weekend, and racking up 250k week#1 sales. Not bad if you ask me.

(reading the thread title, thought it was 20k or something!)

I completely agree Shams. 120K on THE FIRST DAY is actually quite good. Was anyone expecting anything else???

Just kiss the tip.

Final Fantasy games usually have really high initial sales but for such huge selling titles quite weak legs , that's why a first day of 120k isn't all that promising , but well we will see whether FFCC will follow this trend or rather sells like the other DS games with relatively low initial sales and strong legs.

BTW, it is not guaranteed that Crisis Core will outsell it, not just because of the DS to PSP userbase, but because of how unpredictable this gen has become.

It's guaranteed. Wanna bet?

Oooh.... now are you going to take that wager Kber81? Maybe not so much hey?

Just kiss the tip.

Are Famitsu scores known for it yet? (keeping in mind that they seem to score FF games a bit high)
