I'm certainly not making excuses. The developers made it the way they saw fit. Some like it, some don't. In my opinion it's not a big deal but I certainly wouldn't call it a "massive flaw". If it is that heinous, write 2K a letter and let them know you want a patch to have all enemies in the area "reset" their location and to full health so that your exit from the Vita Chamber isn't such a big deal.

If I'm understanding what is going on, at the very least the enemies should regen after a minute or two of not being hit. Dead enemies stay dead but those you took health off of should start regaining it back.

Sadly, they don't. You can fail to kill the Big Daddy, but take half of his health, revive in the Vita Chamber, then go take the second half.

Yep, that's one of the biggest complaints in the game and is accurate.  Keep in mind, though, that the "Vita Chamber" while being a save point, is actually yet another twist on the standard FPS format.  Somewhere I read that the developers made it this way in the hopes of keeping the story continuity togeter rather than having to keep going back to previous points and dying.  Gears had a few areas in the game where it was fairly easy to die if you weren't very, very careful and if you did, it would return you to the last checkpoint.  You had to listen to the main character communicate the same radio message and move back through the scene repeatedly until you got through the area to the next checkpoint.  It didn't happen often but when it did, it drove me nuts and made me fall out of love with the game... That's just me, though.  I don't mind it being easy.  I don't every play games on 'hard', 'insane', or the like.  To each his own.

I don't get what was so great with BioShock. I played the demo - it's ok and I love FPS! They gave King Kong an 8 too!!! Ha Ha!

BioShock is a 8? I completely disagree... 9 is likely, 10 I understand why people don't like throwing 10's out there... But, an 8 is not reviewing it for what it is as a game.

As for Space Giraffe. It stinks... 2 is an exceptionally great rating for it... 4 would have to be a drug addict... 8 indicates that they had someone demo it to them and reviewed based on that.

They gave Moto GP'07 a 7... But they gave Moto GP'06 an 8 and from what I've seen of the demo of GP'07 it is way better then GP'06...

They also gave King Kong an 8 on the 360... That game was not in the same ballpark as Gears or BioShock...

It seems there is inconsistency with their rating system. Not a fanboy comment... Just an observation on their rating system.

If Edge gave Resistance and Heavenly Sword a 6. Thats good enough for me. R:FOM was great and HS looks to be just as fun.

boo hoo, someone gave Bioshock an 8. maybe they didnt like it hmm ? maybe they think FPS games are tiring regardless of the setting ?

maybe they didnt like their widescreen cutting off the top and bottom ?
oh well oh well.

Well, some one had a rough month or something.

If RFoM was a six, i take it HS will be great.

and maybe a little surprising for Bioshock and Warhawk, i dont doubt that Warhawk is good and deserves an 8 but its hard for me to believe that its as good as Bioshock.

Well, two games that do two verydifferent things.

Id bet my nuts that Warhawk is a hell of alot more fun, while Bioshock is a one of a kind experience.

Oh I agree, change is a good thing, and, honestly, how many of the best games of all time are actually difficult?  OoT, still considered the best of all time by most standards, certainly wasn't.  Neither was RE4, Metroid Prime, Super Mario 64, etc.  However, the feature is what in the end is hurting it's reviews and it's what has dropped it's reviews down from being the second best game of all time to the 4th best.  That just goes to show you though that reviews won't always match your opinions.

...and I don't think they have ever given a perfect score (10/10)

They have given 5 in 15 years (Ocarina of time, Gran Turismo, Half-Life 2, Halo, Mario 64).

I think they have only given three 9/10s so far this year.

ill tell you right now bioshock at least deserves a 9, such an amazing game

With regard to Call of Duty 4 having an ultra short single player campaign, I guess it may well have been due to the size limitations of DVD on the XBox 360, one of various limitations multi-platform game designers will have to take into consideration-Mike B

Game trailers-Halo 3 only dissapointed the people who wanted to be dissapointed.

Bet with Harvey Birdman that Lost Odyssey will sell more then Blue dragon did.

Bioshock is a 10 in my book

One of the best games I have ever played.
