Rumour: Bioshock Coming to Wii?

2K Games’ has already announced Bioshock 2, the sequel to their critically acclaimed RPG/FPS, in a secret trailer packaged with the PS3 version late last year. A recent job listing on Gamasutra announces the developer’s need for a UI (User Interface) Programmer for Bioshock 2. A standard job, for sure. However, not only has 2K Games requested a large number of qualifications for such a typical profession but one line struck us as interesting.

Additional Experience and Skills (highly desired):
• Experience developing for next-generation game consoles (PS3, XBOX 360, Wii).

Could this be yet another sign that the series, if not the sequel, making its way on to Nintendo’s console? The developer doesn’t have a whole lot on its development plate right now and poor revenues for Take Two Interactive (2K Games’ owner) had earlier encouraged many former exclusives arriving on multiple consoles. Such examples include Grand Theft Auto IV and the first Bioshock.

This should purely be taken as a rumour; the developer could just as well be working on a brand new project for the Wii, tweaking one of its greatest titles for the “family-friendly” console. That last point is another misnomer, given the number of mature games arriving on the Wii this year like Platinum Games’ MadWorld and EA Redwood’s Dead Space, along with it’s capability for realistic aiming in first person shooters. Time will tell – these days, however, silence seems to be golden.

I wonder how bad a game like Bioshock, which is heavy on graphics, would look on the Wii is this were true!

We will just have to wait and see...

I don't know. First problem its over a year late; and you saw how bad the full priced, time delayed PS3 version did. Time delays totally screw over the console that gets it later.

Second problem is they have to scale it from 1080p down to 480p and it probably can't handle the same amount of stuff on screen.

So in conclusion: It could happen, but it would be a far inferior version. I could see it scoring only around an 80 on metacritic because it won't be as good as its HD counterparts.

I don't see this selling but I think 360/PS3 is a step-up from PS2/Gamecube ports.

Pixel Art can be fun.

It would be interesting if its actually happens.

Wow.. did I quote myself.  Anyway, I'd likely buy it on both 360 and Wii if this is true.

Pixel Art can be fun.

I think it would be pretty stupid and I don't think it will happen!

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

@kirby: well let's see how dead space will be received, but I think that dev shouldn't develop a version of their HD games on wii. What's the point doing it?

If they did it right it could be good, especially with the motion controls. We know games can look pretty good on the wii, devs just need to make the games better. Look at MP3. If it had that good of visuals it would be fine. But, I would rather see a new ip for the wii in the same line as bioshock.
