Forums - Nintendo - Rumour: Bioshock Coming to Wii? (3rd Party Floodgates Opening?)

@kirby: well let's see how dead space will be received, but I think that dev shouldn't develop a version of their HD games on wii. What's the point doing it?

They should make new main games in the series. It can feature great controls and the audience for Wii games are huge and ever expanding. I think companies would be stupid not to develop for Wii.

Isn´t this rumor an old one, darth?

Anyway, speaking as a PSWii owner, I say enough with PS360 games being ported to the Wii and more original games please, such as MadWorld, Conduit, etc...hmm, I wonder if most Wii only owners would agree with me on that..

This would absolutely butcher the game. Bioshock relies on environmental storytelling to drive it's narrative and themes, and it's unparalleled sense of atmosphere again relies heavily on it's detailed graphics and effects. The game would simply be butchered on a less powerful system. The incredible detail and sense of immersion in it's landscape is what makes Bioshock.

Well, guess no other games before the hd systems had good environments that made the game. Good thing to know they came and saved us.

No other game before has had the incredible environmental detail that feeds back both into the narrative and immersion like Bioshock does. Half Life may have been a pioneer, but the i9ncredible graphics of Bioshock really took the sense of immersion to the next level. Bioshock is primarily story driven, not gameplay driven and I think a game like that benefits more from visuals than controls/interface.

We have had other fps games before that were good immersive games. Look, I'm not saying the graphics are not impoirtant, but that the wii can handle graphics that can make the game immersive. just because you don't have hd textures does not mean a game is not immersive.

i wouldnt be suprised. i wouldnt buy it tho, didnt like the first one that much. gameplay was so.... been there, done that

I think an original new Bioshock for Wii would be awesome and it would not have to piss off the HD fans thinking the series would be "ruined". A new Bioshock game would not have to be directly compared to the original like a port would be.

It may be immersive, however, whatever way you slice it, by porting the game to a less powerful console you are sacrificing one of it's finest qualities. IMO a story driven game does not especially benefit from a unique control scheme, great visuals and art diretion however do benefit it.

rapture is an incredibly detailed world, many of the subtle details, like the grime, masks, little tears and bruises in clothing, etc feed into the narrative. Many of those details would be lost on the wii.

It's either Bioshock or Bioshock 2 or a spin off of Bioshock coming on the Wii maybe.
