Forums - Nintendo - My Deadly Creatures Impressions.

Okay so i've played the game for a couple of hours, and i like it so far.

Combat - The combat is much better than i expected, especially when playing with the scorpion. It's pretty simple... A is used for basic attacks and right after pressing A doing a gesture will do a heavy attack (when playing with the spider it's either an uppercut or some kind of slap lol, while with the scorpion is a poisonous hit with it's tail). The scorpion can also do combo moves by pressing A multiple times. Overall the combat is fun, as you aquire more skills by gathering points. These points are gathered by killing enemies or completing quests. Also, with the scorpion when the enemy is low on life you can press the C button to start a killing move, with Quick-time events.

Graphics - They're stunning. The complexity of the enviroments is seriously mind-blowing. The character models are top-notch, especially the spider's (you can actually see each seperate hair if the camera is close to you). The best thing about the graphics has to be the animation. It's really realistic, to the point of being creepy, especially when you slowly move with the spider. There are some framerate hiccups here and there, but nothing major.

Music - The music is amazing. It's pretty subtle, but it really sets a creepy atmosphere. The sound effects during battles (hearing the enemies or you character screaming) are damn good too. The little voice acting i've encountered so far is good, but i could never tell good VA from bad VA so yeah.. :p

Overall the game shows that it has a lot of effort put into it, but still has a few technical problems. The few framerate drops and the few loadings that pop-up suddenly while exploring a level (don't worry they last like 2 seconds),

It's certainly one of the best Wii third party games and it shows that even a developer with a not-so-good track record can shine when given the opportunity. I'll submit some House of The Dead: Overkill impressions soon too, so i hope you like them.

Cool that you like it.. I wanna get this game more now.

Pixel Art can be fun.

Oh and btw if anyone has any questions that i might be able to answer just ask. :)

Have you completed it, and if so how long is it.

Sounds good. Is it out in Europe? If so I might get it so I have something to play now as don't really have anything else to play. Stopped playing Brawl cause some people on this site where too abnormaly good and made me hate the game cause I seemed crap. Trying to get to 9999 in Mario Kart but after getting to 9970 I dropped down to 9000 and may give up on that project.

@TWRoO

Nope, i've played around 3 hours or less and i'm at chapter 3. The whole game has 10 chapters, so i suspect it should be around 9-10 hours long. On the good side you can choose between 3 difficulty levels and it has tons of artworks galleries to unlock so it should boost replayability by a bit.

@tuoyo

It's due out the day after tomorrow in Europe.

nice, It sounds pretty good and worth the investment. At 40$ i'd probably bite.

I hope this game does well, it seems interesting and appears to have had good effort put into it. Would definetely be a renter for me first though.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

I'll be reviewing it soon, for anyone who's on the edge.

Nice impressions! Good to hear that the framerate drops aren't too intrusive.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?
