Forums - Microsoft - star ocean 4 gets 34/40 from fumitsu.

Another game got 34/40 too:

Sonic World Adventure (PS3, X360) 9,9,9,7--34

Wait. Are we talking about the same game (Sonic Unleashed), Famitsu?

It (PS3's market share) might hit 30%, but definently not more. ~ Neo

Yep. That's Sonic Unleashed.

It's frustrating because Famitsu is so often first and used to be important, but I don't see how anyone can take them seriously. The Last Remnant getting basically a perfect score, Infinite Undiscovery getting about the same score SO4 just did, and WKC getting an unusually low score... it just seems random. Despite the fact that WKC seems to not be a perfect game, I can't even imagine a parallel dimension where it will get a lower metascore than Infinite Undiscovery, and SO4 simply looks way better than IU.

Not only do the scores seem bizarrely random (but never really low) they also never give you a sense of anything, never really describe any aspect of the game beyond what you could get from a preview... the format doesn't really allow it.

That said, GO SO4 GO!

I dunno, I like the breakdown of the scores more rather then the total sum. I see 9/9/8/8 and I think "ok they all thought it was pretty good if not great"

It's when I see scores like 9/7/7/6 (like with Demon's Souls) where I kinda go "hmm"...in the sense that there is a noticeable difference in the each of the review scores.

What, did square not pay them enough "protection" money for a higher score?

I think square already paid money for a higher score of this game.

Infinite Undiscovery got a 29/40, the same score as WKC. It exactly mirrored Western scores for IU, which were in the low 70's.

Back from the dead, I'm afraid.

So 80-82% at best on Gamerankings.
