Dead Rising 2: It's Real And It's Spectacular

We were pretty sure that Dead Rising 2 video was real on Friday, now we're positive, with Capcom officially announcing the game coming to PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Capcom says that Dead Rising 2 will take the franchise to a "new level of zombie-killing fun with tens of thousands of zombies" and a chance to kill them in fun ways in the gambling paradise of Fortune City.

Dead Rising 2 is set several years after the zombie invasion of Willamette, Colorado. Unfortunately, Capcom tells us, that zombie virus was not contained at the end of the first game and spread unchecked throughout the U.S. Dead Rising 2 depicts a country where zombie outbreaks continue to strike.

As we had heard long ago, Dead Rising 2 is being developed in partnership with Canadian developer Blue Castle Games as well as a number of members from the original Dead Rising team, including Keiji Inafune, who as the game's Producer, will play an active role in the project.

The announcement promises that further details concerning the story and gameplay of Dead Rising 2 will be made available shortly.

"Ok, girl's trapped in the elevator, and the power's off.  I swear, if a zombie comes around the next corner..."

so its for the HD twins

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

I will not be buying Dead Rising for the Wii. What's the point when the sequel is on the other consoles. Great Job Capcom!

If Nintendo is successful at the moment, it’s because they are good, and I cannot blame them for that. What we should do is try to be just as good.----Laurent Benadiba

I don't really understand that line of logic. If Chop Til You Drop sold well, wouldn't it be more likely for Capcom to do a DR2 Wii port down the road?

badgenome,

Who wants a port. Wii gamers deserve a game made from the ground up on the Wii. Also Wii gamers have purchased RE4 Wii and RE: Umbrella Chronicles. Yet we have not received any thing but a port of Dead Rising for our efforts.

Nope, I will not support Capcom by buying Dead Rising Wii.

Understandable, I guess. But the first game was for the 360, so you can't honestly be surprised that the sequel is for PS360, can you?

Yes, since Capcom did not port Dead Rising to the PS3. Instead they ported the game to the Wii. Now that a sequel was announced to be in the works who would not think that a version of the game would  be developed on the Wii. What would be the point of developing the first game if the sequel is not going to be on that platform. Instead, why not make an original Zombie game for the Wii?
