Forums - Microsoft Discussion - I love Microsoft.

I'd post snippets, but there's just too much good stuff. Really gives you an inisght into the heads at Redmond.

To be fair, I think most companies do this. I guess I should've made the title "I hate corporations." But then, it wouldn't really fit in the MS forum now, would it?

Maybe there should be a Microsoft goodness galore website as well?  Bill Gates' charity gives away $1.5 billion dollars a year.  Microsoft itself gives away millions yearly as well as what is given away by their employees and previous employees.  But people are free to paint the company as evil since they're only doing what companies actually do *gasp*.

@Legend11

So? Almost all big companies do charitable works to boost credibility. However, the way Bill Gates acquired most of the cash was through illegal lock-in deals, antitrust, abuse of monopoly position and political payoffs. Also, his Foundation is a for-profit thing that makes investments in not-very-charitable companies too.

By the way, all of those school "charity" projects are creating future Windows customers where there influence is weak.

Microsoft is a great company to work for with a great campus. That said, there are some occasional shortfalls and layoffs and the like but overall it is OK. Plus they have the great DEVELOPERS DEVELOPERS DEVELOPERS DEVELOPERS DEVELOPERS!!!!!!!!

You can argue all you want about businesses guys. And at the end of a 500 page expose, people will always just say "it's business." It's an aggressive world.

The real question is, does the company produce something that's actually good? Most of Microsoft's stuff, in my experience, doesn't work as well as stuff made by other smaller teams for less money. With the exception of Xbox -- they've done a good job with that.
