Forums - Sony - Square Enix 6 Year Low

It's their own fault for not doing a Western localization for Front Mission 2089.

I'd buy it.

Honestly, stop acting as if Square are getting what they deserve because they support MS more than Sony atm.

They're getting what they deserve because they're douchebags. These games would've sold better in Japan but worse in US if they were released on PS3. I can honestly say I don't think the full sales for The Last Remnant would've been better if it was PS3 (timed) exclusive.

Also, for the five millionth time, Infinite Undiscovery is a Microsoft IP. Square just helped develop it. It belongs to Microsoft just as much as Halo does.

Certainly releasing Infinite Undiscovery for PS3 would change that. /sarcasm

Even if sarcasm, do you think MS would greenlight that? heh.

Releasing SO4 on PS3 would help both SE and... me.

When you're almost exclusively supporting the console that has the least potential to sell JRPG's don't be surprised.

This topic has already been discussed several times. And it has been made clear (by comparing their 2006/2007 and 2008 lineups) that this has nothing to do with either PS3 or 360.

Well last year SE had nothing big, this year SE will be rolling in money. DQ IX, FFXIII, SO4 = $$$

Okay, but since The Last Hope didn't release last year, that's neither here nor there.

I'm sure you see my point though...

Square-Enix will launch its first jRPG for PS3 in 2 weeks. Lets see if that will save them.

Not really, to be honest. It seems you're arguing from an emotional standpoint rather than a logical one. They released two games for the 360, only one of which is exclusive (and they just published that one). A lack of big releases last year is what killed them, not publishing a middle of the road game for Microsoft.

Now, say this again in a year's time when SO4 bombs and FFXIII has been delayed yet again, and I'll probably agree.

Or did you mean your point that you want Star Ocean on PS3? If so, yeah, I got that.

Suppose they shortened the development time by two years for all of those games. They could have the same quality game, just half the length. Sales wouldn't be less (all the people who care about how epic FF is would buy it anyway), but they could have been very profitable LAST year and freed up resources for even more games.

Apart from getting fanboy admiration, what benefit do they get from having insane development times?
