Forums - Gaming - FPS haters due to dual analog control!

I stooped playing FPS because of the dual analog controls and the boring and slow gameplay. I miss when FPS when more arcade-based (Doom, Quake, Duke nukem) than today. I did liked MP3 controls but too much exploring gave me headaches. I want to try Call of duty with the zapper because I think it will be cool to play that way. I dunno about the Conduit though.

Just imho but K+M @ fullHD >> dual analogs @720p > Wii @ 480p

Altrough if Wii could match other consoles graphics it would be superior to them in FPSes.

Graphics aren't everything Zledjedi. Gears of wars had great beatifull graphics but it's controls turn me off.

Whatever. KBD + mouse owned them all

playing Call of Duty Wii online with Wii Zapper is awesome, at least for me!

and there's no lag at all (except if someone has a terribly slow connection) a bad thing with all FPS online is that you die in no time, LoL (i die every 10 seconds)

i always feel sorry for the guys that are on my team everytime i play an FPS online : P

i didn't really like MP3. The controls were nothing special and the gameplay was frankly the worst i've experienced in an FPS. It would be as if you are throwing cushions at enemies rather than shooting at them, there was just no satisfaction. It felt like it was built for kids

@Red That is your first problem. MP is as much of an FPS as Oblivion is. @Blue I don't understand what you mean by this? Killing enemies isn't even the main gameplay anyway. The main gameplay is puzzles, and boss fights. @Bolded This is full of lol. Did you even play the game? Tell me it was built for kids with all the Puzzles in it. I'm pretty sure a kid would quit after getting stumped for hours on a puzzle a few times. Not only that but each enemy is a puzzle in itself. The boss fights are great examples of this.

I'm not a huge fan of the FPS genre, heck... I preferred the Banjo-Tooie shooting minigame to GoldenEye 007's multiplayer for Pete's sake.

Anywho, I've always been competent with dual-analogue controls, starting since the GCN (TimeSplitters ) and continuing into this generation with games like Halo 3 and Bioshock. It was fine, I did well enough, but I could never really find myself hooked because I was never fully satisfied with the controls.

Well, when Wii came out, I wondered how the Wiimote would translate for shooting controls. And when I finally played titles like Metroid Prime 3 and Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, it all clicked. I mean, you're pointing the WiiMote at the enemy and firing, just like a real firearm. It was really neat, and very immersive. I got to say that the only real reason I'm buying The Conduit (remember, not a big FPS fan here) is because of the fun controls. I'm definitely looking forward to it.

Not to say that I can never go back and enjoy FPS's with traditional gamepads, but I really find the WiiMote to be a great way to play the genre.

so then,Metroid Prime 3 bad graphcis, bad gameplay, was built for kids but still got a score of 9.5!?

(still above your beloved Killzone 2)

now you mention it, i can't wait for MP1 and MP2 to be released on Wii, never played them before!! : )

No, Torillian, you show me proof they're not superior. If I really, truly have to explain to anyone why pixel-perfect Wii or PC controls are superior to old analog controls, they had better educate themselves first.

You're the one who made the idea that there is undeniable evidence that Wiimote is superior and should be preferred by everyone.  All I'm saying is that the control methods are comparable and it all comes down to preference, and people who refuse to believe that someone would prefer a gamepad are just giving too much stock to their own opinion instead of reailizing that people have their own.

Wii is not pixel-perfect either, that's a load of crap.

Actually, it has nothing to do with the pixels, their size or location.  The target location itself, however, is much smaller than a single HD pixel.

The issue is calibration.  When perperly calibrated, it is most certainly 'pixel perfect'.
