Forums - Sony - Killzone 2 demo video from the start.

This demo is the same demo available at one of the shows in 2008. GDC I think? Either way, It's really stretching things to complain about some low res textures exspecially in a demo build. This is the best looking console game to date. And never in Halo 3 did I encounter AI behavior half as good as I did in this demo. And it was set to normal difficulty! Every time I've played this game scenarios have played out differently because of how the AI responds to my actions. It's a thing of beauty.

Also, this is the beginning of the game. The first 10 minutes or less. I'm sure the gameplay picks up a lot.

There's gonna be a mech scene, in the game. That should be fun.

Played this to death at my mates the last 24 hours. Will be honest the game is good. Not amazing as I was hoping for, but definately worth a purchase. The game at times has awesome graphics (mainly when the effects are in full flow, and the animation) but sometimes it looks really drab. And what I didnt expect was the textures to be so low res. But the upside is the PS3 has a good FPS from the demo. Gameplay is pretty standard even if the controls feel stiff (the sixaxis makes you cringe though, tilting to one side and watching the screen tilt is LOL).

I must admit I was wrong, the intro of the game is definately in CGI because the gameplay is alot lower in graphics. Still the game is a big improvement over the original, just doesnt stand out (mainly due to gameplay and the promises of god like graphics) it just falls short of the hype. Also with gameplay as refined as Half life 2, Gears 2, Halo 3 and Bioshock it's hard to love it. Anyways here it is. Enjoy the awesome effects and animation the game has to offer.

I know! I saw that when watching Gamespot's preview of the game! And as you take damage the shielding which is made of glass cracks and then ultimately shatters. And when it shatters they said air rushes into the cockpit and that it looks so amazing. It's going to be epic.

I hope your right. I want you to be so right. :)

The demo really did have some very low textures and flat bumpmapping. As already been said it also felt very sparse. I'm not used to just 10 enemies on screen.

I definately enjoyed it, but it just felt like a very good stop gap game and not THAT game we've been waiting for. I dunno, hopefully the full version addresses the many issues I fell the game has. The demo actually apart from the effects and animation didnt impress me like I thought in the graphics department. It didnt feel like war, it reminded me of KZ1 but it was better than the first.

Your right apart from the very first intro to the game which I posted about 1 and a half weeks ago. I thought it was ingame, and many people told me it was CGI. Now Ive played the game extensively it's very easy to see that the intro is inded CGI as the gameplay is far from that.

Really? The demo impressed me. And personally, with such smart AI, I can see it being too difficult having a lot of enemies on screen at once. Exspecially on harder difficulties. For the beginning of the game, I think it was a perfect number of enemies. These aren't mindless zombies mind you. Also, you compare it to Gears 2 like that game threw more enemies at you at once but it really didn't. Sure, it had a lot of enemies for the brumak scenes and even when you are riding the big rigs at the beginning but they never send more then ten for you to encounter at a time for any of the close encounters as was experianced in the K2 demo. And trust me, I've beat that game 5 times. I love it. But even in the rig part, only so many would climb up the agacent rig for you to combat at a time. And in that part you even had a turret. And none of the enemies showed as expansive behaviors as was shown in K2, not to say they were dumb, I just haven't experianced as good AI as I have in this demo. Overall, after seeing this demo played in it's entirety a year ago, I was just happy to get my hands on it myself. I don't know why everyone had problems with the controls they were harder to pick up then say Halo 3, but the controls and precision felt "tight" to me.

hmmmmm, the AI was definately great. But it didnt fell like it did anything different than any other top game. I didnt struggle at all really. I do play alot of FPS games so maybe that has something to do with it. So much so when Halo 3 came out I went straight to Heroic and found that although good AI It wasnt major hard. Even Legendary was a challenge but not frustrating. I also finished COD4 on the hardest setting first time through in 8 hours. So maybe it's just me.

I see your point with Gears 2, for some reason though Gears 2 felt more like holy shit it's war more than KZ2 demo (but it's just the demo) there should be some good set pieces further into KZ2. But Halo 3 regularly threw 40 + enemies around certain outdoor environments. Air, tanks, Minor vehicles and foot soldiers all at once and in numbers. I remember fighting 2 scarabs (which have about 10 enemies to each) all while 10 or so vehicles on the ground + air units tried to kill you and your men. I hope that sort of thing is in KZ2.

It's still good as is though, just not what I expected from the hype. Especially the breaking of scenery. That was rather poor. I was crouched behind a thin piece of tin which got shot to shit only for it to still remain there without a scratch.

well im glad you say its definatly worth a purchase.

and the games you mentioned, there old news and ive finished with them, have no interest in getting them again, might get gears 2 later though.

the game intro isnt cgi, its game engine grafix obviously made into a cutscene.

killzone 2 from what ive played does have good gameplay, and listen to your grafix jibe lol, killzone 2 looks better than any other console game, ive never seen a game like it before. looks amazing on my new plasma. i cant wait to buy the full game.

ive highlighted the RED its obvious this is a joke post of yours, its not on 360 so youve decided to post an anti kz2 thread

Wooooaahhhh!. Easy. I'm not the only one feeling the issues of the game. It is a good game. It's just not lived up to the hype that had me going. I feel let down. I wanted this game to be the one that I bought my own PS3 for. It still may be, this was only the demo. And I'm not the first to mention the sixaxis thing, many on the net have posted about that. Anyways dont pin point me, Yes it's my thread but only my opinion.

Post your opinion it's fine, just leave insulting people out of it. I certainly am happy that you enjoyed it more than me. It just didnt do for me what it did for you. :)

but whats thier to cringe about the sixaxis loading screens come on now whats wrong with it.

some have issued complaints on controls, the problem is they want everything to be cod4 controls. imo kz2 controls are like battlefield BC and they work well, its just not cod4 control thats all.

if you dont like the game then dont buy it, why have you opend a thread regarding demo gameplay video, and then bust into the game just like that. your ~OP doesnt match the thread title.

can you make this thread again when full retail game is out.

its best till we have the full game in our hands and give impressions, and not from a demo.
