The funny thing is, There were people predicting a 7 would be the BEST Score KZ2 would receive
. Great job GG and Sony

Edge? Wtf? Looking at their list of scores I've decided that they must be insane.

If you don't like it that's just too damn bad. I am sick of people that believe the games they like should receive all perfect scores from every reviewer in the world. FYI, SSBB received mostly amazing scores and is so important to many people and I would give it a 6-7 because I have never liked any of those games in that series ever. Not everyone likes the same stuff that you do, get over it. |
Well, the difference is that a professional reviewer is supposed to be objective in reviewing games. So they can not like a game personally because it's not their cup of tea, but still recognize that the game is well made and review it as such. That's what reviewers are supposed to do. Otherwise what if a reviewer hates the RPG genre personally? Is he supposed to just give every RPG he reviews bad scores because of his own personal dislike for the genre?
um...let's see. Steve Jarratt, the chief editor of Edge magazine, is also the senior editor of Windows Vista: The Official Magazine and the UK edition of Official Xbox Magazine. So you can draw your own conclusion.

I assume you know of the inside joke that only reviews that give KZ2 below an 8 are valid...basically this and Maxim. If you are a reviewer, nobody cares about your opinion. Any retard could join, say, GameSpot, and give Zelda a 2 because "DURR IT MAED ME THINK 2 HARD!!!". Would that be okay? It's his opinion, right? Well, if he has an opinion which is different from the mainstream, he needs to review it like a mainstream person. I'm sure we could find somebody, somewhere, who would give Ocarina of Time a 6 and Haze a 10. He would be a crap reviewer unless he acknowledged that he had a strange opinion and switched those scores around. Again, they're not fanboys, they're just ridiculously strict. |
No, you're wrong. A review is an opinion. An analysis is objective whilst a review is subjective. It is a contradiction to say that "perhaps the world's largest game magazine"'s opinion is "irrelevant".
And, by your first sentence I'm guessing your saying that I am hoping that Killzone 2 will fail. Funny that, seeing as I am personally hoping for this game to do really well, as I particularly enjoyed the first title.

What about him helping launching the Official UK PlayStation Magazine or his works on the Official Nintendo one. Also he is Chief Editor at Future PLC, which controls all the magazines just mentioned.

Or they could have a different opinion then the hundreds of sites and magazines that hype up a game give out amazing scores and then the players feel let down ala GTAIV, having a different opinion is good for a game site/magazine. It would be more intelligent to either back up your claim with an example instead of saying "Edge sux" and do two random reviews you don't agree with, maybe if the substance of their reviews were sloppy ala Electric plays review of Super Smash Bros on the N64 where they didn't even realize you could use items with any character, play multiplayer, etc. showing an example of incompetence can go a long way in making a point. |
HOLY FUCK you are stupid.
First:
EDGE gave GTA 4 a 10/10
Second:
EDGE is known for making BULL reasons to give low scores for PS3 exclusives.
They gave GTA4 a 10/10
They gave Halo 3 a 10/10
They gave Fable 2 a 8/10
They gave GEARS a 9/10
EDGE is a joke of a magazine. The only reason i can see them trying to trash talk a triple A title is to get attention. They want sales/publicity like all magazines do.
The UK based magazine is a joke to me, I live in the US and the most consistant garbage of a magazine would have to be EDGE. They continual to make a joke of themselves by being blatently biased.
HOLY FUCK you are stupid.
Wow. And in your first post, too. Welcome to VG Chartz. I'm sure you'll have a long and prolific stay here.
Anyone who can look at review scores alone and cook up stories of biasedness and conspiracies is a COMPLETE joke to me.
I read two UK based multiplatform magazines every month for the past few years - gamesTM and Edge. Over the past half a year, they have had exclusive interviews with Kojima, Media Molecule, Guerilla Games, Kaz Hirai, David Reeves - all putting Sony in a very good light.
Also over the past few months, they have put a lot of writing into the PS3 - saying how much 2009 is looking very good for them and there was even one month where the front cover stories were all on the PS3 and how good the future looked. Also both these magazines have extreme love for LBP.
Each magazine has their own scales for games and have their own opinions. Its that simple.
Some people here are just $*()_&$&*$_*(*$%....
