I get joy from it, and I'm neither a child nor a grandparent. Your reasoning must be flawed.
Okami
To lavish praise upon this title, the assumption of a common plateau between player and game must be made. I won't open my unworthy mouth.

You know how often I read the PS360 forum? Maybe one a month, ya know how often I post, I pretty sure I never have. Why would I read their forums if I don't own the system? Why would I try to annoy them? I would say its maturity, ya know like the real kind not just buy M rated games. I think they all (the fanboys) just secretly want a Wii and are really sad to know that gaming is coming back to the masses and they can't have their little club anymore. Long time/new gamers choose Wii, new gamers in the 13-25 crowd have chosen PS360. Be happy and get over it. |
but when it comes to Sony financial status everybody are welcome to bash Sony

Lots of people on this site are very interested in the business and investment aspect of videogames, and stating fact about Sony's current financial situation could only be considered "Bashing" if you believe that reality has an anti-Sony bias.
On topic ... Maturity is something which is heavily dependant on a person’s perspective, for example the 25 year old single mother would probably think that a man playing a Spongebob game with her child was a mature act while playing Halo 3 online was amazingly immature. For the most part, people who try to label the Wii (or any console) as being particularly childish tend to be people who haven’t outgrown the insecure-teenager mindset that "Maturity" is performing acts that you try to prevent children from doing.

You make an interesting point, but I think you are missunderstanding the reason people do it. People vent their rage about Sony and use the financial difficulty as an excuse to do so, just like the RRoD with the 360 and "kiddy" with the Wii. These companies are not saint folks if I must I will list how they have all screwed us.
Nintendo:
-Years of abuse of 3rd parties in the 90's
-Game Censorship in the 90's
-The "we know better than you attitude" which is still around to some extent (Online multiplayer until recently was a great example- and friend codes still are).
-Lack a viable storage option, and overpriced accesories.
-Inabuility to withhold licensing from shovelware- the inverse of what used to be true.
M.S.
-A rushed HW job leading to a faulty console (thankfully freely repaired)
-An interest to leverage a PC monopoly to dominate ever product category under the sun.
-The early dishonesty about 360 failure rates.
-Baggage brought from outside videogaming, things like buggy software, and the Vista launch
Sony
- A need to lie about the capabulities of their hardware prior to launch (PS2, PS3)
- Comments like "get a job for a PS3" and we "own the industry"
-The rootkit fiasco, and other baggage brought from outside the area of gaming.
When a fanboy sees an oppertunity to be a dick, they take it. I'm just happy to say that unlike many of the people in this thread, I don't take my time to go on their lawn and piss in their driveway. That my friends is the definition of immature, not to mention just pathetic.
XBL: WiiVault Wii: PM me PSN: WiiVault
PC: AMD Athlon II Quadcore 635 (OC to 4.0ghz) , ATI Radeon 5770 1GB (x2)
MacBook Pro C2D 2.8ghz, 9600m GT 512 iMac: C2D 2.0, X2600XT 256

yes i see the wii as a kiddy console but also as a retro gamin machine, i can play all my fave titles through the virtual console.

Well than that theard about sony losing money should be called ''Sony lost 1.3 billion dollars'' not ''Sony is screwd''. That is bashing.

You realize this image was all started by 1337 computer nerds back in the 80s when the NES released because the graphics of the NES couldn't handle the amazing 2D games and colors they had back then, then SEGA Gen vs SNES came along and SEGA went for the edgy image and then tried to call Nintendo for kids cause SEGA does what Nintendon't and such but it was pandering to 12 year olds that want to feel like they're not kids but act more immature as a result and play immature games as a consequence, and that sitgma has continued till today, when Nintendo produces games that are mature grown up games that anyone can play be it 40 year old adult (and not feel like a kid by playing it) or a 5 year old just playing the easy levels. While most "mature" titles appeal to the 12 to 26 demographic that feel like blood and gore means it's good, mature, and meant for them, then call Nintendo kiddie but never know where it even spawned from. |
Eh, I wasn't even alive when that stuff happened in the beginning. I grew up on NIntendo 64. It was my favorite because I was happy with Nintendo (I never did play a Playstation still I got a PS2)
I also thought the Gamecube was the best console last gen up until Wind Waker released. By then, I loved the Xbox and PS2 more. I'm not one for caring what happened earlier on in the internet or whatever because I never ventured onto forums until early 2007.
Yes ever since about mid N64 life ive seen all Nintendo consoles as kiddy they do have a adult focused game here and there but not like PS or Xbox

Play Me
Of course it's a kiddy console. It's only been on the market for two full years. It still has like 7 more to go.
