EA just likes to fan the flames of Fanboy wars! The only way ME2 will come to the PS3 is with tons of money being paid back to M$ or some other type of back rubbing.

but EA owns ME IP not MS.so they don't need MS permission

EA owned the ME IP when the PC version was published. You are reading over that - EA had to strike a deal with MS to let EA publish the PC versions and future versions of the game.

What on God's green earth would make MS say 'Here are the keys to the kingdom' and let ME be published on the PS3?

I am wholly convinced it will never, ever happen. After seeing the Bioware PR release and EA's quotes - and their recent quotes - KZ2 has a better chance of appearing on the 360 than the ME franchise.

Despite KZ being first party developed and ME being third party published.

Yeah...

That's not how it works. EA buying Bioware doesn't mean MS loses whatever rights they had to ME through their own agreement with Bioware. Whatever say MS had in the IP is still there, only now their partner is EA instead of Bioware. Considering that ME was a 1st party published game, most certainly paid for at least in part by MS, and heavily hinted at having a contract in place by multiple parties, EA will need some kind of permisson from MS.

When one company buys another, the buyer (EA) assumes control and responsibility for all of the assets, IPs, debts and contractual obligations that was held by the company being bought (Bioware). So I repeat what has been mentioned multiple times in multiple threads, EA does in fact need MS's permission to do this, or they can be sued.

You know what I would find hilarious? If what they mean by multi-format they weren't talking about just a PC or PS3 iteration but a Wii edition. I don't see that happening though.

Kingdom Hearts 3 Bet: If Kingdom Hearts 3 becomes a multiplaform title/is not Wii exclusive then I will be banished from this land for 1 week and sing my praises to those who have proved themselves to be more intelligent than I.http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y267/RDBRaptor/rdbraptor_sig16.jpg%5B/IMG%5D">

I could see it go to ps3 for these reasons.

1. Its Ea
2. Ea paid 300 million for Bioware
3. They annouced Dead space for why not this for ps3
4. Ea reported loosing alot of money.

EA payed a whole lot more than that for Bioware.

If it wasn't coming to PS3 they would just flat out say "It is for PC/360".

The only good reason they won't confirm a PS3 version is perhaps because they are trying to get MS to throw them a handout for an exclusive.

No, there's lots of other potential reasons they wouldn't confirm or deny a PS3 version. Off the top of my head:

1) Microsoft might have a timed exclusivity deal already in place. If so, EA can't legally talk about the PS3 version until a certain amount of time has passed.

2) Microsoft might have an agreement guaranteeing full exclusivity, but EA is negotiating with them. Or if they're not negotiating, they want to keep their options open for a potential future negotiation. In this case they'd never officially deny the PS3 version.

3) It could be that there's no exclusive agreement of any kind, but Bioware doesn't have the manpower and/or desire to do a PS3 version. EA could be looking into alternatives - such as having another studio handle the PS3 port - but hasn't worked out the details yet.

There's no way of knowing unless you have inside sources.

So a first party title has a higher chance of going multiplat than one owned by EA of all companies?  Madskillz, I never thought you'd go so low.

And your GTA comparison is flawed, seeing as GTAIII, VC, and SA all made their way to the Xbox once they were done being system sellers for the ps2 (if you even consider ME to be a system seller).

Before Bioware was bought by EA,MS signed an exclusivity contract for Mass Effect TRILOGY...therefore,EA had to ask MS for permission to publish ME1 on Pc. They are still negociating with MS for a Pc port for ME2 even if they OWN Bioware.

MS remains MS,the big corporation that can`t AFFORD to lose something that makes them money. They are a software company,so contracts are the bread and butter of what they do.

Gears 2 made a lot of people get 360`s...Fable 2 made a lot of people get 360`s... now Mass Effect 2 will get a lot of people to get 360`s because they played the first part on the Pc and now it`s exclusive to 360 so they NEED to buy a 360. How do you know that MS will allow ME2 to be on Pc? What about ME3 on Pc? They are not and will not be forced to own the IP/own the developer to have ME trilogy exclusive to the 360,so let`s calm down...

Do you have a source for that statement?

It seems a lot of people are claiming stuff around this but when I search the internet all I find is supposition, nothing concrete at all.

So far as I can see the exact terms between MS/Bioware are not public.  The exact terms of the EA purchase are not public, and the exact terms of any MS/EA negotiation are not public - i.e. we don't know for sure what the legal status of the ME IP is.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
