Remakes are a waste of time. Gaming and the RPG genre has really and truly evolved, to the point where there's no going back.

What I would like to see -- and what would make a great deal of commercial sense -- is more Revenant Wings-style expansion packs set in the Ivalice game-world. They have great characters, great backgrounds, a terrific set of stories... why not develop them further?

I'd especially like to see Square Enix take the idea of the Viera and run with that. Really, the Viera are one of the most interesting nonhuman fantasy-cultures since the Vulcans. Mix it up with some Fran and Balthier cameos for good measure...

Fair enough. Personally, I'd like a REAL remake of some of the games, on a CONSOLE, no more of this handheld crap. If I wanted to peer into the tiny depths of a poorly backlit screen, while constantly running down the battery on my trips in the RV, school bus, or church van, OR during my recess period, nap time, or under the blanket with a flashlight, I would have bought a gameboy when I was 12. Of course, even that doesn't help me right now does it? I don't have that kind of time to kill, so I invest what hours I have into the better console experiences. Oh well. I'd probably buy it for nostalgia value anyway, then never play it, the bastards.

They shouldn't remake Final Fantasy games AT ALL.... anymore!! No matter what platform, it's getting extremely annoying.

Edit: you can get Final Fantasy 1 + 2, 4, 5 and 6 for a bargain on the GBA and since you can plug GBA games into your DS...

I'm very much with you on this.  I bought the FFIV and FFV remakes for GBA, and guess how I played them?  On my Game Boy Player for the Gamecube, on a 27" TV, not a 3 inch GBA screen.

I don't know how anyone can say that the remakes are getting annoying.  You don't have to buy them if you don't want to.  :P  And the FF series keeps getting worse, not better, so I don't care if they're taking resources away from their next game.  I'm not planning on buying a PS3 anyway.  ;)

final fantasy have gone downhill since VI. your fanboyness to square-enix is just silly, you dont know nothing about rpgs outside of the typical big name square-enix series (FF,KH,Mana,) Square-enix is shit now. the last great game they released was dragon quest 8. nothing personal i'm just sick of every thread your makin about shitty games you want ported or remade for the wii.

You know they have other franchises, right? Or they could make a NEW franchise instead of dedicating so much manpower to remaking several games all at once. Of course you don't have to buy a remake, but wouldn't you prefer the option of a brand new game you've never seen before? Sadly, I think S-E has a lack of creative writing talent and that's why they're in remake mode. It seems most of their games lately have had little to no story or an extremely cliched obvious one.

Nobody wants S-E to port FF VII to XII on any console. The only FF games that matters are IV-V and VI and all of them are going to DS.
They should reassemble the Dream Team and make another great game like Chrono Trigger instead of waisting time with ports of bad games.

I think FF VII-XII schould be remade for the PSP . That would be fare :P

Why remake it with the same graphics? That would be a waste of time. FF vii would be best remade for the ps3.
