OT: Don't think so. HC strategy games aren't mainstream games and they don't get hyped enough to become goty. Well, to be honest I have been waiting for this game too, but I don't expect much of it because of MTW II and RTW.

Any game but Empire: Total War will be GOTY 2009.

Other Choices (if they make 2009 release):

1. Gran Turismo 5

2. Final Fantasy 13

3. God of War 3

4. Bioshock 2

5. Killzone 2 (could still get it)

6. Modern Warfare 2 (Wasn't CoD4 GOTY 2007?)

And Rome and Medieval II were bad games??

Well, the idea and all were quite good, but bugs, lack of good AI and bad design rendered them quite bad. Best Total War is the first Medieval Total War.

@ grooski, I looked at some mods for Rome total war (I never got into MII), are there are ones that your particularly recommend?

 

Try SPQR or Europa Barbarum (EB) - they are fantastic. For all your mod needs for anything total war - go here
