Forums - Gaming - All third party core games without an established fanbase on Wii will fail.

"ok here's my uniform standard for failure:
if a game sells far less than the average for the genre that it is in, it is a failure."

So, does this average include those established franchises?

Cause, anything compared to those established franchises will fail....
duh!

Maybe if you compared them to the non-established games, that little bulb in your head will light up.

Since I was curious, I decided to see how well his standard worked out for FPS games on the PS3 and XBox 360 ... The average sales for FPS on the PS3 is 830,000 units, there have been 23 games released and only 5 would be considered successful. The average sales for FPS games on the XBox 360 is 1.34 Million units, there have been 35 games released and only 11 would be considered successful.

@Happy

Those are actually good figures I'm impressed by how his standards hold up.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

The Official Huge Monster Hunter Thread:

The Hunt Begins 4/20/2010 =D

If we go by your definition of failure, Call of Duty on the PS3 failed miserably, right? And Force Unleashed, and Guitar Hero, etc. All complete failures.

Point is, you can't just label something a failure just because it fits your semantics. I'd say this thread is a failure.

The numbers aren't (necessarily) bad, but I dislike the idea of calling one game "Unsuccessful" because a handful of other games were successful enough that they skewed the average ...

Oh, this wasn't a joke thread? In that case I got one; GTAIV is a complete failure because they failed to sell as much as MK Wii or Wii fit.

or MGS4 was a failure because it didn't sell as much as Smash bros...wait what? I'm not making any sense? Yeah that's the point.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

I think the OP described the situation of games on the HD systems.

::chuckle::  Yeah, thats the first thing that went through my mind.

Practically of any game, but at least the Wii games are cheaper to make...

Anyways, is really bad to look just this side, like a lot of people have been saying, this applies for all the consoles, and the HD ones are a really good example of this...

By me:

Made with Blender + LuxRender
"Since you can´t understand ... there is no point to taking you seriously."

So ok, you made a thread to say that in your eyes games fail on Wii, cause they fit your description and your opinion of what a failure is, which a failure is not judged by you or your guidelines, a failed game is a game by game basis, if your returns are greater then your input to most business (cause games are a business) you've succeeded, you sir have failed at failing, good job.

MaxwellGT2000 - "Does the amount of times you beat it count towards how hardcore you are?"

Wii Friend Code - 5882 9717 7391 0918 (PM me if you add me), PSN - MaxwellGT2000, XBL - BlkKniteCecil, MaxwellGT2000

This is ridiculously specific. Let me try:

All casual games on PS3 not published by Sony with little advertising will fail.

EDIT: Now I've read Khuutra's post, it's also not true. Sorry.

This is not true. It really depends on if the company advertises good.
