@jettrii ,yes after i wrote about MS ownership i looked it up and i also looked up Sonys position ,and it looks like they learned some lessons from MS and they pay nvidia a licence for the tech but handle the fab side themselves and have acces to all refinements and cost lowering benefits going forward and can renegotiate down the line so they get savings and aren't locked into a price per gpu like MS was, it seems they have more control than MS did with nvidia ,plus as i said early the cell isn't the main reason for the ps3's expense its blu ray

Yea, the Blu-ray drive is and probably will always be the most expensive part of the PS3 unless Sony manages to find a way to lower it drasticly, in which case I suspect RSX will be more expensive than the Cell in the long run.

Good news Everyone!

nice read but it's been years and no one noticed the lack of "trees" in KZ2 and every gamer is admitting how wonderful it looks.... so it's not a big problem.

thanx for the info , now I will notice such stuff when I play games :)

Little updated for those that are interested: Killzone 2 doesn't have any trees. I've asked 2 acquaintances with the retail/reviewer's copy of the game and both of them confirmed that they haven't seen any trees in the game. They have yet to finish it, one is pretty close.

I'll have my hands on Killzone 2 in two days. I'll take some pictures and post them.

Its all about the trees lol :D
I don't know much about the killzone world but if its a world without trees thats heavily industrialized then why would they go with it ?

My favorite games for this gen:

1. Gears of War    2. MGS4    3. Killzone 2   4. Halo 3(Underated by many)      5. Mass Effect

The lack of trees is just a small part on my Killzone 2 graphics explanation. Killzone 1 had plenty of organic matter and trees.

@jetrii

yes kill-zone 1 had a lot of trees in parts because it was set on Vektra and that is a vastly different colony than helgan ,in the introduction to killzone 1 the helgan leader Visary tells of the colonization of helgan in his speech and how the planet nearly killed all the settlers and it was the few that survived and mutated , became stronger and more able to cope with life in a place where the environment was deadly that created the helgan of today ,and the greener pastures of vektra was to be the first conquest amongst many in response to ISA's abandonment of the helgan people

Killzone 1 took place on Vekta, a paradise of sorts. This is where the Helghan originally moved to, but the ISA were pissed, and began a mass invasion of sorts. The Helghan moved to the planet Helghan, and called themselves the Helghast. Helghan was not a nice planet at all. Toxic gases in the atmosphere, everybody who worked outside had to wear masks to be able to breathe. It was extremely difficult to adjust.

The Helghast originally tried to re-invade Vekta, but the invasion was thwarted, and the ISA counter-attacked by launching a massive attack on Helghan.

Hope that explains things.

My thread for teaching VGC some Nigerian slangs

I liked your Text, it's cool, but the animations and physiks aren't included. I'm a 360 Fan a bit, because of Halo and GOW1+2 and xbox live. Only MGS4 and Valkyrie Chronicles and now Killzone 2 are games I've bought or I'm going to buy on my PS3. When I first sae K2, I was a bit disapointed, I expected more after the hype, but it seems, that the animations, particles, light effects and physiks make the diffrence, not the look.

Please tell us after you've played it, if it's true, about the animations & Co.
