"The publisher suggested that‭ ‬Japan’s‭ ‬year-end shopping season‭ ‬“lacked excitement‭”‬,‭ ‬claiming that the key reason for this is the handheld market having‭ “‬fully‭ ‬disseminated.‭”‬

“The absence of flagship titles as well as consumers‭’ ‬money-saving attitudes also negatively affected‭ ‬sales,‭” ‬said Capcom."

Bit rich considering they had nothing worth of note released for either PSP or DS in the Q4 (no new DS or PSP games for Holidays!), and considering that the Best re-release of MHP2G was their best selling game.

 

Also bit rich considering Monster Hunter Portable 2G sold 2 million copies during that period (9 months ending Dec 31)

well not the hd consoles fault. they should just stop creating so many low selling japanese orientated games. well i bet monster hunter made them a bob or 2

Blaming PSP and DS? Seriously? Well atleast they mentioned not releasing any major flagship title, but honestly I get annoyed and annoyed every time I hear from them. It is a pity they actually make good products on the handheld....but with this attitude we will just get bad controlled console game in more quantity or a movie based on a badly controlled console game that costs 150-200 million dollars.

They have only themselves to blame, how stupid it is not to release a single PSP or DS game during the Holidays?

And even then, MH2PG sold another 400,000 copies during the quarter.

They blame psp and DS? The more I hear from capcom, the less I respect them. They should just remain quiet. I'm looking forward to their shift to wii when RE5 tanks LMAO. When they underperform on wii as well, perhaps they'd then release their own console since they have the answers.

What the hell? DS prints money. It's as simple as that. If they're not on the moneytrain it's their fault.

Why would they underperform on the Wii? Zack and Wiki is at 500k (well, .49m mil), RE4 is at 1.77 mil and still selling. Okami even outsold the PS2 version.


And they're bringing MH3 to the Wii, and they said Spyborgs was big. I think the sales are justified enough for them to like and support the Wii. Definitely not signs of underperformance thus far and I don't see why they'd underperform later.

Well, we just have had one of their employess saying how Zack and Wiki (and Okami) did not make money. And Capcom hasn't even shipped 1.77 million copies of RE4: Wii Edition. They said they shipped 1.5 million.
