So you really think Gabe Newell just used that as an excuse to explain why he didn't target the PS3? Even though the 360 was the first console they targeted?
In general Valve doesn't care about consoles. Even the 360 versions of their games are sub-par as they don't get new maps or additional content. The 360 is targeted because it's easy to port to from PC. The PS3 is not, and that's the end of the story for Valve.

But why must they learn the ps3's architecture? Its not like its first place or anything and a system which is easier to develop for also has higher sales than it , so whats the point? The J man isnt sayin they should abandon the ps3 but to say they are lazy because of sony's arrogance to purposefully make their system harder to develop for while at the same time not beating the competition is a big F.U to not only to valve but to every game developer.
Other game developers just bite the bullet and accepted that they needed extra profit from their ps3 sales, valve on the other hand didnt and there is nothing wrong with that.

Gabe Newell sounds like a bit of an ass from his comments on PS3. Sony have been arrogant in their approach to this generation. I'm not even going to bother reading every single reply in this thread, but I imagine its something along the lines of Valve/Anti-PS3 Fanboys standing in one corner and the PS3 fanboys in another.
I'm not sure what exactly was ment to come from this thread and its conclusions, but I look forward to seeing them.

I could be mistaken here, but Valve had nothing to do with the Team Fortress ideas, they just bought out the old Quake mod. Same with Counter-Strike.
I'm not a fan of single player first person games (haven't yet tried portal), which is why I think Valve is so overrated - my favorite IPs of theirs are things they didn't even create. Okay, I guess most of my hate comes from what they did to Counter-Strike... I'm sure they're a positive force in the industry, just never been a fan of what I've played from them so far.
As for the bitching on Gabe, yeah... I don't think Valve is the one with the financial troubles.

They bought nothing. The Team Fortress genre was a community driven mod for half life that was very sucessful which valve then took over and developed.
PS You should try Portal its one of the best games i ever played.
As for your comment about bitching on Gabe...your right...
His company are fine and dandy. Looks like refusing to develop for PS3 has paid dividends for one company.
