no sorry don't have any graphs to show Wii demographics, but I can say that while the Wii has branched out and gotten new people into video games ( I know a few people personally that have never or not in a long time bought a game system, but bought a wii) but I believe that there is still a decent amount of wii owners who are in the Male 18-30 range---Most people I know are in this range

I know the wii moves software and a lot of it. But out side the core of children and casual males. How much software is moving to the newer audiences?

I agree, I had a few friends who bought a wii and used there kids as an excuse to get it. In one case the kid was only 3 or 4. lol

Nice avatar by the way, that is still my all time favorite NES game.

well, if the "core" are buying enough software to keep the attach rate so high, then they must be way more "hardcore" than any PS3 or X360 fan.

Obviously, if you look at games like Mario Kart Wii, Wii Fit, Wii Play, and all the music games (RB, GH), the "new audience" is buying around 4 games pretty much as soon as they get their system.

Unless you want to admit that there are more "core" players on the Wii than any other system, since those games have outsold all the other games on other platforms.




If you drop a PS3 right on top of a Wii, it would definitely defeat it. Not so sure about the Xbox360. - mancandy

@DemacII: You know, kids are core audience in the industry.
With Wii software sales it's pretty hard to prove anything negative considering the demographics. The idea with the Wii is, that one person gets the system in the house, but everyone buys games for it due to wide variety of games available.

The reason for the different focus in marketing is, that you need to multiple times the amount of marketing to make new customers that you do to keeping the existing ones.

Yea, nintendo doesn't really have a clean "demographic." They seem to have everyone and anyone included.

I think that nintendo attracts everyone now. Their target market is now a bunch of target segments.

Seems the Wii is STILL ran by kids and women. I'm sure Wii fans will come in and say it's stupid because it generalizes, but this isn't the first time a study has shown this conclusion.

Also, they showed that people who own the Wii play their games far less than the HD consoles too. I'm sure Wii fans will react to this most current study as they have in the past when this kind of information comes out.
