Forums - Sony - PS3 gets a whole lot brighter with amBX support

Whats it do? The article looked like more of an advertisement than an explanation.

@phrancheyez: yep that's it!

I was thinking about it ... Just imagine ... I don't care about the wind effect but colour effect could be really really cool: you're playing FFXIII and you summon shiva, all your room become blue with a little cold breeze ...

ZOMG, I wonder if it's possible?

That sounds freaking awesome, I'm liking these ideas the more I think about them!!! Imagine playing Uncharted 2 and playing in the Himalayas level and fealing the cold wind in your face, that's just pure awesomeness right there!!!

FOREVER IN DARKNESS!!!

Why is SkyNet wearing a PS3 Logo???

PS3 also won't require the vibrating pad because you have the dual shock. You would pretty much need lights and fans. I don't think you would need the speakers either if you are using a 5.1 or 7.1 system. So it actually may end up costing less than I thought.

I hope I am right.

I still think you would need the vibrating pad since not all controllers have the DS feature,  like 4 of mine.  Plus the pad would make it a better experience.  Even without the speakers i would probably still pay upwards of $300 for it if it was a sweet setup.

Cool. At this rate, the PS3 will cure cancer, the PS4 will cure everything else.

4 ≈ One

You can also get the ultra realistic package which turns your DS controller into a granade, detonating on impact when you slam it against the floor in frustration while playing Lair, the only problem is you can only use it once!!!

It sounds cool in theory, and it'd be awesome if your whole room would rumble, and if there were big fans and whatnot, but after looking at the actual setup of amBX, I have to say that looks really laughable. Those fans were soooooooo small. :P

How do the lights work?

Well at this point, screw realism. I want a ****ing rave in my room when I'm playing videogames! Yeeeeeaaaaahhhhhh!!

Woah nice find, looking forward too it.

I found this amBX demo on Youtube. It is while playing Call of Duty 4 multiplayer.

If you notice the lights gets brighter if you walk outside and dims when you walk inside. It also gets very bright if you look up at the sky, dims in shaded areas and if you are standing next to a wall on your right hand side of course in the game the area to your right would be in the shade. Well that side of your room would be dim as well while the other side is lit up.

I watched another one with Guitar Hero III and the lights would match the color of the note you play, which was really cool.

iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.

Currently playing:

Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Uhh... it is a PC setup. How big you expect it to be when you sit with it right in front of your face?

We have no idea what the home theatre setups will look like, because supposedly movie studios are going to be using this by the end of 2009.
