Forums - Nintendo - EA conference call - core titles coming to Wii, big support coming to Wii

I'll wait until E3 to see what they're really bringing. They've got a couple of titles announced now (like Dead Space) that's causing minor meltdowns in this thread but no where near the level for me to take these claims that seriously.

Ok, as I understand this now. (I Beat Rathalos yay for me!)

Section 1:
(This is for those who are saying that "it's about time EA!")
EA is one of the companies that made public that they do not understand how to appeal to the Wii audience, also they hired that guy from Microsoft who apprantly has a fetish for Iwata and all things Nintendo so he's the one spear heading things like; All-Play brand which is a Wii exclusive brand of games. (Because Wii owners are unique and special from other people who play video games.)

Section 2:
What this man is saying is that instead of going about things like Wii owners are unique and special he will push for the core games (whatever core means) to get an appearance on the Wii platform. (At this point I'm not sure if he's saying they are Wii-ified versions or if they will have a metagame that is similar to the PC/HDtwin version of the games. An example of one of these 'core' games is Dead Space... (suprise it's a shooter!)

Section 3:
50% of all EA content will arrive on the Wii.. now no company forget's it's place even big EA needs to generate budget titles to lower revenue and increase potential profit. EA however tends to turn franchises into budget releases that generate profit... except cost of development seemed to hinder that a bit.

So does this mean that Wii will recieve more budget games? Of course... but this also means that the HDTwins and PC will see less content from EA.

I'm almost certain EA is looking at the picture as Capcom does,

HD is on the left and Wii is on the right... that's a paradigm shift from 2007 where HD was viewed as the next step and Wii was looked at as a step back, now that vantage point seems out place.

Fathom disruption... and this industry is still growing.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

The Official Huge Monster Hunter Thread:

The Hunt Begins 4/20/2010 =D

I just hope the games actually come out. I may not like the company much, but I sure do like thee idea of big games coming to Wii. Hopefully, other developers and publishers make the jump. I am tired of the fence sitting going on by some companies.

Put the games out there and stop, "testing" (i.e bullshitting) the market already.

I read this on Joystiq, and for Dead Space, the EA guy said:

"A good example of this is Dead Space. We're bringing a Wii title to the market this year and it is absolutely going to be the quality and fear factor that you got on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC SKUs this past year"

...yeah..just like Dead Rising Wii will have the same amount...or at least a large amount of zombies on screen, and a camera mode....oh wait....

Now this is going to get Wii fans all wriled up "We told you 3rd parties would finally start moving over!" etc.....I'll just sit back and wait until they talk up crappy port #85 and call it proper 3rd party support as a talking point

Yeah, because Capcom said something like that.

The point is they're going to be putting a lot of effort into this.

I would only consider it "effort" if they started off by putting new IPs on the Wii. But what we all know is going to happen with Dead Space Wii is going to be an extremely watered down version, less enemies on screen, horrible lighting effects (comparatively) meaning the setting is gonna be so screwed up from the original, etc. I would've liked it better if it was Dead Rising Wii, first, then they could've put all focus into it and made it into an experience in which expectations were met....but since its already been done on PC/PS3/360, we know what the game is SUPPOSED to be like and the Wii version will just look shoddy in comparison

The Wii can have everything from EA just leave Burnout alone .... :(

i want burnout on wii man, i am awaiting the burnout paradise port for PC to get my burnout fix.

The crash physics and the detail of the crashes would be so crappy on the Wii......crashing is like 75% of the fun in Burnout

That's funny, I remember having fun with the crashes on the PS2, unless I imagined it and crash physics were invented with the arrival of AYCH DEE!!!

Yeah, it won't be the same game but at least they get it, I guess.

Ports are better than nothing, for sure, but it's not the support people have been saying would happen.

Exactly, but I guarantee it will be used as a talking point when the inevitable "Wii has bad 3rd party support" threads show up again. I can see it now:

Guy 1: Wii doesn't get good 3rd party games

Guy 2: What're you talking about? We got Dead Rising and Dead Space ports

Guy 1: Those were horrendous ports

Guy 2: So, it's still 3rd party support, so your argument fails

I got into that once when financial reports came out at one time saying 3rd parties made the most off the Wii...but it was off games like Party Babiez and Carnival Games. I said something like "3rd parties are still doing bad on the Wii" and someone replied "It doesn't matter WHICH 3rd party games are selling, it's still a fact that 3rd parties sell more on the Wii" I know these are all technicalities, but as a gamer, they're technicalities you should pay attention to.

Yes, those horrendous ports. One that isn't out yet and one that's just been announced (and isn't even known to be a port). So quick to judge....

Please Godfather 2. Godfather is still on my top 10 Wii-games

Same here. Scarface isn't even in the same league.

I prefer Godfather on Wii to GTA IV, or any GTA for that matter, no lie.   Melee with Wiimote + Nunchuk is insanely fun.

PC + Wii owners unite.  Our last-gen dying platforms have access to nearly every 90+ rated game this gen.  Building a PC that visually outperforms PS360 is cheap and easy.    Oct 7th 2010 predictions (made Dec 17th '08)
PC: 10^9
Wii: 10^8
