Restructuring does not cost 600 million

If history holds up he's just going to say the same thing about the PS3 and Xbox360 in the comming weeks, these guys are too shy, tor them they want 1 leg in every door and rightfully so.

WHAT would of made the key difference is if he said Wii platform is being heavily considered for core development for all or >50% of their multiplatform titles. Within that same breath he would also have to say they would be producing a moderate ammount less as far as products go.

Otherwise that part of his statement was just investor fluff and should be taken with a bowl of salt.

The loss is stupendous, in the end darth I'm sure that the higher over head and cost of production didn't help them, not saying they didn't see profit, I am saying they didn't see as much profit as they expected from each individual title.

---
At this point EA should be considering seeing as what Wii sports has done: If EA is doing the NFL a favor by using their players likeness in their games or if the NFL is doing them the favor. In the end the NFL's burden should be increased.

----
If they do start working on the Wii platform, I'd say that they should use EA Big over Maxis or any other sub teams they have working there, EA Big knows how to make games that pack a psuedo Nintendo quality to them that may appeal to the Wii audience, they made one mistake on the Wii and I'm hoping they learned from it.

Honestly EA Big just needs to find itself again, it's sad what they've been putting out lately.

Spore was a PC success wasn't it?

Wow you are brazen.  Unbelievably so.

I give up.  Believe what you will.  Pretend the 3rd party publishers are "dumb", and that you could do a better job.

I know, I should trust the anonymous guy on the internet who claims to be a game developer and yet has little understanding of (practically) everything related to game development ... Games that have 12 to 18 month development cycles involving teams of 40 to 60 developers obviously cost more than games with 3+ year development cycles that are produced by 100+ developer teams

Games that have 12-18 month development cycles are called "shovelware", and yes, they are dirt cheap, since they are farmed to low-talent dev houses and don't take much effort to make.  I thought you were suggesting that Wii games shouldn't be made as shovelware?  You're comparing the cost of shovelware with the cost of quality.  Not the cost of "Wii" against the cost of "HD".

I have so many more... entertaining things to say to you, I think this has got to be my last post in this thread.  You are obviously not interested in hearing from some "guy on the internet".  I would hate to burst your bubble any more.  If you sir, are a game developer, I can only hope we never cross paths -- I know I would not want to be on a project with someone of your clearly dizzying intellect.

The cost difference is due to the hardware. Wii assets are cheaper to make. Its very simple. No one believes you because this is the same shit we here from HD fanboys and is what is causing the industry 3rd parties to collapse. Maybe you dev HD games, so its no suprise you are defending them, but the cost of them is obviously killing the industry. Otherwise we would not have record revenues with Redorc profits lol.

Even Polyphony Digital has publicly admitted they're spending more money on GT5 than previous GT games due to graphical detail... And of course there's Capcom which moved MH3 to the Wii due to development cost (yeah, they said that).

Excuse me while I go get Mirson, zexen, Riachu, and the rest of the gang to go rape you. Persona 4 took 18 months to make. Is that shovelware?

Its not HD soriku so it obviusly had a crappy team. All the REAL devs are HD only. Thankfully Groucho was here to remind us of this. Remember, the more HD you work on the bigger your dick is!

Wii games cost less to make, I don't think you can debate that. I don't think 'good' Wii games are as cheap to make compared to HD as some people on here like to believe, albeit we've no real solid figures other then saying 'they're cheaper'. Whether they're 50% the cost of a HD game, 75%, we don't know, it most likely varies on a case to case basis.

Marketing costs remain the same though, and that is always going to be a high figure. EA's budget for Madden in the USA is ~ $10 million every year, once EA start putting up the marketing budget people complain not enough games have an thus fail, then they need big sales. I'd argue that marketing on the Wii successfully costs more, but we've no solid figures, Ubisoft mentioned it in an article though.

Either way, if EA are going to make the games people want to see, they require big investments no matter what, and will always require strong sales to return. Those sales need to be at full retail price too, non of this super strong legs at retail cuts garbage.

Anywho, I'm sure EA will up support for the Wii looking at both the casual and core markets so to speak. However whether they're going to spend big on marketing a core Wii game, as oppose to a new MySims or fitness game... I'm not so sure, we'll see I guess.

EA's sales are hurt most by the recession anyway, it's lead to retailers being very very reluctant to buy big amounts of games, and that hurts all the publishers. one of these interviews on here mentions it, saying they had 400k for the new LOTR's game whereas in the past initial retail orders could be expected x2 that.

Oh the lol this thread has manifested in my heart, special thanks to: (In no particular order)

Soriku - Your brash abilities to jump to conclusions is heart warming and similar to trestres except your only dedicated not delusional.
HappySquirrel - You lectures and insight bring out the best in people, but your like a brick wall yourself.
Groucho - Your emotional investment into the subject of your beliefs make my wheel go around.
Aeimond - Your candor is only surpassed by HappySquirrel but you do what he does except in one sentance, thank you.

I'm going to go play MH now which is a PS2 game but I'll be playing on my PS3. I hope that by the time I'm done losing to Rathalos that you guys haven't resolved this and that I can laugh for a few minutes, I'm going to need that laugh - Rathalos isn't a charming wyrem nor is he funny.. actually his jokes are lethal.. and only he laughs to them.

It seems pretty clear from all the statements, the Wii will get much more attention. If they are saying fewer overall titles but more titles for the Wii, well you can do the math for yourself.
