Forums - Nintendo - Let's talk about Pokemon in the Pokemon Mega Thread.

this used to be my set up for the first 2 gens(then i played the 3rd gen got dissapointed and stopped playing)

pikachu: thunder, surf, thunder wave, thunderbolt
starmie: psychic. thunderbolt, hydropump, hyper beam
dragonite: thunder, fireblast, blizzard, hyper beam
charizard: fireblast, earhquake, hyper beam, flame spin(? if its called like that)
mew: psychic, thunder, fire blast, earthquake
mewtwo(my ultimate weapon): psychic, thunder, fire blast, hyper beam

btw all were level 100 and trained on yellow versio, then i imported them to my crystal version and didn't change any attack.

^If you haven't played Diamond or Pearl, then you should try Platunum. The 4th gen is really really great.

are diamond, pearl and platinum compatible with ruby, saphire, fire red, leaf green? the main reason why i left pokemon was because they created a boundarie between the 3rd gen and the las 2 gens, so all my hard work was gone and i don't that to happen again if i get into pokemon again.

Yes, and Emerald! After you beat the Elite Four, you can use the Pal Park to transfer 6 Pokémon (per cartridge per day) to D/P/Pt. So if you own 2 of the 3rd gen games, you can transfer 12 a day. Or more if you start a new file on the games if you want to get the starters into the 4th gen game faster.

In the next Pokemon, they should let you choose to have your favorite Pokemon follow you around like Pikachu in Yellow!

fuck. yes. i want a wailord (poke lore - its often mistaken for islands) following me around.

@emilie
yes - you can transfer in pokemon from 3rd generation (ruby / saphire / emerald / fire red / leaf green) into diamond / pearl / platinum after you beat the elite four and see (not catch) the first 150 pokemon in your pokedex (then you get a new one)- you can get pokedex data for un-catchable pokemon if neccessary. However - you dont need to have the 2nd pokedex to get pokemon that don't go in your 1st pokedex (provided you have someone to trade them to you) - they just appear as "???" when you look up their number.

as for my favorate - hands down blastoise. it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside when my blastoise uses skull bash (so what if its relatively a shitty move. i love it).

Would someone suggest a good special attacker that can be picked up in Emerald?

My current team can take the heat, but has some problems dishing it out. I'll probably train a Salamence at some point but I can't capture one for a while, I've used Alakazam/Kadabra and Gardevoir before and want something new, and finding, let alone training, a Feebas is absolute Hell.

And my favorite is either Charizard or Blaziken. I like the Fire starters in general.

Hmm.  Special Attacker.. I'm pretty Diamond/Pearl/Platinum right now but for Emerald, have you tried Starmie?  Starmie was pretty much the premier special attacker in R/S/E.

Pixel Art can be fun.

I haven't used Starmie since the RBY days, so might as well try it out. It'll still be a while before I can get my hands on a Super Rod or a Water Stone, but I'll manage.

So Starmie it is, then.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and thanks for the suggestion.

Go for Timid Nature, 40 HP EV's, 216 Spd EV's, rest in Sp. Atk.

The standard set is..

Recover
Thunderbolt/Ice Beam
Surf

I know the Smogon site, thank you very much.

EV optimization is a huge pain when you have to do it yourself, since you'll need a crapload specific berries. That usually take ages to grow. And getting an optimal nature is another pain, especially since the RNG hates my guts with a passion. And I don't do bot battles.

Hell, you don't even need to optimize your team unless you're doing the Battle Tower, and that's only because the computer is a huge cheating bastard - using pokemon with illegal movesets, perfect IV's, multiple traits and whatnot. I still have nightmares about Palmer's fucking Milotic (yes, I know that's in DPP).

But because I have a crapload of time to kill, I'll probably do it anyway.
