Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo's Big Hitters for 2009 and a comparison.

I'd say Punch Out, Madworld, The Conduit, Dead Rising Chop til U drop

I don't have a wii, just goin off what i've heard. Punch Out could be a huge Software seller I think

LoL @ Dib8ter. That post says it all, and definitely expresses what I woulda said in a not so entertaining way.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

Third parties can have a great year as well, but Iwata surprised me when he said Wii was gonna see a bigger year in terms of SW. What are big 3rd party games for this year?

I know that when Iwata says something its because he knows whats hes talking about. Any new Guitar Hero, besides the Metallica one?

Zleep, no way to know yet.

Nintendo's current official information dissemination strategy is to keep the games secretive until ~6 months prior to release.

Pikmin3 is a possible 2009 release so we could potentially add that one to the list. With a real good marketing campaign, a few of the Play On Wii titles could hit 2 million.

Wii Sports Resort
Punch-Out!!
Sin & Punishment 2
Pikmin 3 (possible 2009 release)
Play on Wii titles (no likely but you never know)
????? Their big holiday title is not yet known.

The rEVOLution is not being televised

I think a new Mario Party and a new Mario and Sonic will happen. Maybe Pikmin 3 and probably a big holiday surprise. Some Wii Series game as well? For all we know, WSR could sell up to 25 million units this year, maybe more.

TBH, I like this new strategy. It keeps hype levels at healthy levels, for the most part. And the surprises keep everyone guessing and speculating. Seeing trailers of a great game then seeing "Coming 2010" makes you a little pist knowing you're going to have to wait better than a yr to play that title.

I don't think the software Iwata is talking about is Nintendo made only. I think there are third party games that will be unveiled that will shock the hell out of us. AAA third party efforts in addition to Nintendo's own efforts...Pretty nice combo.

@Rhonin, I was talking about the 2 million sellers, thats what I said in the OP. I know EO2 will sell more than 1 million, but I doubt it could sell 2 million. The first one hasnt even sold a million yet after a year in the market.

And yet you include two games that haven't reached that number.

Zelda 2009. that is all.

I still think Pikmin will be for this year, as well as the Factor 5 project (they can't be dead if we haven't heard that they're dead. How could they force employees to keep their mouths shut if they're no longer employed?), and the Retro project and Monster Games project. Between them, Wii Sports Resort, and the big-name 3rd party projects, it could be a good year for big games on Wii, as it's already an excellent year for little games.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

@Rhonin, Metroid Prime 3 may not reach that number, but it will get really close. Mario Super Sluggers has shipped 1.4 million since it was launched 4 months ago, you honestly think it wont make it to 2 million?
