Forums - Sony - Resident Evil 5 Demo Is Up On EU Store!!!

@fulcizombie: In what ways is the PS3 version worse? I'm sensing a deluge of comparisons if you are right (and even if you aren't for that matter).

yeah, you might force me to get my friend to bring his 360 over so I can try his demo on my 66" tv. looked great to me on the ps3.

Now I remember that there was already a comparison of the demos. The PS3 version didn't have self-shadowing and it was less detailed. Here:

But of course this could change in the retail version.

OMG the demo was CRAP!

the controls are terrible

I know why Fishyjoe said he wanted wii motion in it now

it feels so last-gen....the whole game to me!

but I hated the controls...it feels like a shooter.

just what I feared.....RE5 will bomb in sales imho

Geez, they're not that bad. The knife controls are terrible, but the rest is not that different from RE4 as far as I can tell.

How does the knife work in the PS3 version btw?

Quote from article linked in that thread: "In summary, at this time, it appears that the Xbox 360 version is a few builds ahead of the Playstation 3. We look forward to revisiting the results when the games are released at retail and finished. For now, treat the results as temporary. The gulf of difference, when viewed in motion, is not as large as I had expected. In fact, I was quite surprised when I went back and looked at the screenshots. Going from one to the other, I really couldn't find these subtle differences between the two versions until I compared screenshots directly."

Don't matter how "shitty" the controls are, the sales will be very very good.

@NJ5

but the whole point is to evolve

to add new things (tweak things a bit).....the controls aren't even that fluid.....they feel clunky I'm afraid

and about the knife....I didn't use it

Eh, look at the screenshots instead. The differences are pretty obvious. The 360 version has self-shadowing while the PS3 one doesn't. That's not the only difference, but it doesn't get much more obvious than that.

360 version:

PS3 version:

But as I said, these are just demos and the final versions may be more similar.

I looked at the screenshots, and as the article says, the differences are "subtle," as in, unnoticeable unless you are comparing side by side.  In a few, the PS3 looked slightly better as the article mentions.
