Well here in Sweden you can get a 100 Mbps connection for 270 sek a month ($32), including phone service.

That is a hell of a deal.  Is it government owned?

Sorry I fixed the amount, actually 320 sek / $38. I don't think it's government owned, because Telia (the part-government owned operator) doesn't offer it AFAIK.

For people who don't have access to those ethernet ports at home, you can get ADSL 24 Mbps for about the same price. You can get the same in Portugal for around the same price.

Yeah. Not owned by the government, but the building of the infrastructure was sponsored by the government 3-5 years ago by rufly $1 billion. But it's kinda slowed down in the last few years, many homes are stuck with the (maximum but often less) 24Mbps ADSL connections and will be for years to come.

And I thought my 15mbps connection was blazing.

I get like 80 something KBs per second lol...

Hmm... so rufly 0.5 Mbit/s. But it's enough for RedTube isn't it? ^^

Wow, I don't understand all those specs, but that's still impressive! Could anybody tell me what's the average speed in western europe plz?

Dunno about the rest of Yurp, but UK politicians seem to think our average is 2Mbps (4th paragraph). That's what I'm stuck with, and it's frankly pathetic. Even more so if this is the "average".

I used to have a dial-up ages ago, and now I'm not even satisfied with 16 mbps. You'll see for yourself when you get a faster connection, human nature sucks.

Thats fricken fast! as for my notebook. it reads 54Mbps but like Griffin said like (which i also agree) im probably only getting 20 or 25, probably not even that.

Nice speed but does it matter since the world is going to end in 2012 anyways.

HOLY FUCKING HELL.... And I'm only running on a damn 3mbps...... That is so sick if this really happens. 3 years from now huh...

On another note, watch out for the 4G mobile networks in a few years if your broadband access sucks due to the area where you live.

The only question is what the latency (ping time) will be, but those networks are being designed for all-IP access so it could be good.
