Sorry, but I refuse to admit that a game with every possible advantage, and an assload of hype turning out to get good reviews as a "comeback" or anything else other than what any reasonable person could expect. That's not triumphant, that is not cause for bragging.

I'll give my two cents here.

For three long years, the 360 fanboys bashed this game at every opportunity. Guerilla sucks, Killzone sucked, the gameplay sucks, the AI sucks, that's just a PlayStation magazine, they were moneyhatted, ...

That "..." represents there being no valid arguments left. Like I mentioned in another thread, I don't think any game this gen has gotten more hate than Killzone 2. Maybe MGS4, but that gets inhuman amounts of love as well.

Are you serious no game gets as much hate as Halo 3 despite it getting great reviews, selling great, having amazing legs and constantly being one of the most played games on xbox live. Fanboys will bash anything and to use that as your argument for Killzone 2 being a comeback story then you have a very weak argument.

Halo 3 didn't get a tenth of the hate of Killzone 2.

@CGI
Well, unfortunately, I must disagree and posit the the amount of hate for this game is no more than many other high-profile exclusive.
But anyways, congratulations Guerrilla Games on an excellent game!

To lavish praise upon this title, the assumption of a common plateau between player and game must be made.  I won't open my unworthy mouth.

To be sure, it did receive plenty of fanboy hate. But that is to be expected, and the point of my mentioning other games' reception of hate was to counter the idea that KZ2 somehow received a disproportionate or unheralded amount, such that it would deserve the title of comeback boy and the like.

It's the comeback kid because a game with gigantic hype and an ungodly budget managed to be good? WHAT? YOU MEAN FANBOYS BASHED IT?? Well truly it is the biggest comeback story of our day, and should get a federal holiday. I mean with odds like that stacked against it and all.

Funny thing is....you were probably one of those people who said "it will never live up to the hype" and now that it is...all your damage control/backlash is starting to come out

I've been saying for some time now I'm getting day one. I just want people to call a spade a spade.

You can find me on facebook as Markus Van Rijn, if you friend me just mention you're from VGchartz and who you are here.

@vagabone

not sure your david goliath analogy fits. goliath cn be the media+kz2 haters and doubters and fanboys vs david (kz2). from what i have generally seen, heard and read in the media , pretty much anything sony related has mostly been negative. using your analogy, i would say kz2 was david and the doubters and haters were goliath (media can make or break u irrespective of a companies size or budget, fanboys can spread bad rumours quicker then a bush fire). now that the game is here, the media has turned a new leafe and the doubters have moved onto if it will sell or not.

The reason for the hate towrds KZ2 on this site might be due to the dozens of KZ2 threads every week for a past few months. I mean a thread dedicated to every single site preview can get on the nerves. And arent there about 4-5 threads claiming the it looks better than Crysis?
What im trying to say here is that people should start praising(as well as bashing) only after they have played through the damn thing

"The accumulated filth of all their sex and murders will foam up about their waist and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "Save us!"...

 ....and I'll look down and whisper  "no."

Great, now Killzone 2 should get its own movie.

I beg to differ.... It wasn't hated, it was only disappointing that it came short for some. For me though it's a memorable game. Fun to play ever since launch. Now I wouldn't call that hating worst than what happened to KZ2 since the epic blunder of the trailer. Left and right you can see comments about bashing how that's epically impossible(which it really was). Skepticism made them say it's gonna be a damn disappointment.

Did Halo get the same thing? Nope... As far as I can remember it wasn't bashed like hell and never became a landmine topic like KZ2 infamous trailer.

To work on the David and Goliath analogy,

Killzone 2 is David, the Haters are Goliath.

Goliath loved David's older brother, but he became a druggie and a criminal. Goliath thought this would run in the family, and didn't think David could be any better, and so began to hate David. Over the years, Goliath gained power and many people fell prey to him. Despite the occasional good deed, most considered him a monster.

When some promise was shown, he dismissed it, said there was none. More was shown, still he refused to believe in David.

Then, people began to really like David, and this made Goliath furious. He began to attack David, abusing him verbally and physically.

However, David overcame all of this, with the strength of his fans behind him, and defeated Goliath.

Still a pretty good story.

Sorry, it's just ridiculous that a game with an absolutely gigantic budget, massive team in the hundreds working on it for four years, a ton of internet hype in the form of constant movies, previews, articles, never being allowed to leave the consciousness of the internet going gamer and it's being heralded as a comeback? As a surprise "F U FANBOYS" hit? I mean it's a given that it will be of the highest quality, if it isn't then what the hell were they doing with all that money manpower and time?

If it had a budget of 10 million, struggled along, sometimes was in doubt of ever being made, had a handful of guys working on it day and night, then maybe this would be a triumph. But it's just kind of a "duh". This isn't heroic, it's just obvious.

hundreds is wrong and so is 4 years... is a similar budget of halo gigantic? because id assume it would be around there and not surprised by the amount so i wouldnt consider it gigantic
