Forums - Sony Discussion - PS3 exclusive Steambot Chronicles 2 still in development

I made a thread on GameFAQs asking about the Atlus hiring question. Now only if some people answer :3 I searched for a while about that and basically what few people have said is that they heard that, but there's no link.

Btw, I found this...

http://www.videogamesblogger.com/2009/01/15/persona-5-not-set-in-stone-for-ps3.htm

When Atlus USA was asked in December 2008 about their plans for the Persona series in 2009, they ignored Siliconera’s question, but indirectly hint they’ll continue publishing PS2 games. To quote Atlus’ Aram Jabbari: “*glances at the clock* Oh gosh, look at the time, we’ve really gotta skiddoo. *pushes the production staff toward the door* Thanks again, Spencer, always fun gabbin’ with you! Take care now. All the best!”

So while they choose to avoid such questions, in a more productive recent Play Magazine interview with Atlus Japan’s Katsura Hashino — the Director & Producer on Persona 4 — answered questions about Persona 5 and the series as a whole…

Question: P4 takes place two years after P3, and the anime Persona Trinity Soul ten years later. Will you stay with a cohesive world and timeline for the Persona series from now on?
Answer: “I don’t have any really strong feelings about it. As far as future titles, there are no plans at this point.”

Question: Can we expect a FES-like P4 expansion?
Answer: “We have no plans for that at this time.”

Question: We have to ask: Persona 5, next gen?
Answer: “Nothing’s set in stone. We are currently looking into many different things.”

In fact, I’d go as far as to say that Persona 5 is more likely to be coming to PS2 than PS3 if it gets released in the near-future (Persona 4 took only 17 months to develop). Why? Because Persona 4 has sold almost half a million copies worldwide (480,000+) since its PS2-exclusive release, making it the best-selling game in the Megami Tensei series so far. Good news for any developer, let alone one who makes as many niche titles as Atlus does.

I think Atlus would rather take a break from Persona series to work on other SMT games.

Was it this Xen? It's old though, and I wouldn't be surprised if they cancelled the PS3 one. According to Famitsu, Atlus is developing for 360.

Uhhh...I hate to break this to you but by posting that link, you contridicted yourslef.  That link said that Atlus were developing for the PS3 and the Wii.

Yeah that was from 2006, before the PS3 and Wii got released. After the lackluster sells for the PS3, I believe they cancelled it.

Here's the Famitsu one: http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=58536&page=1

I totally forgot about that.  Even so, I think it would be better if they did multiplatform development between the PS3 and the 360 to maximize the profits.

It exists! :O

What are the chances of this making it out of Japan? I'm trying to decide whether to add it to the exclusives thread or not.

2 years of development already? then it should come out by the end of this year

Why would they cancel it because of lackluster sells?

This title is due sometime this year. I'm guessing late summer.

Prediction:

TGS this year for PS3 will be amazing.

Grandia comes to PSN(PSone classic).

First Versus gameplay this year.

They announced that SMT game for PS3 back in 2005. It's already 2009. It's definitely canceled.

Just because we haven't heard any info about it, doesn't mean it's cancelled.

For 4 years, yeah.

Besides, if they were so open about HD development they wouldn't have put games on the PS2 and DS for the last two years.

Developing an engine for a current-gen console takes awhile. And it is an RPG so it takes along time to dev.

They have to support themselves somehow.
