No they wouldnt. Their losses would be slimmer but would still exist. Software sales arent robust enough to make up for the hardware losses yet. Apart from the factory costs: shipping, advertising, customer support,PSN,home development, etc etc all cost money and add to that kitty.
Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd.

5 THINGS I'd like to see before i knock out:
a. a AAA 3D sonic title
b. a nintendo developed game that has a "M rating"
c. redesgined PS controller
d. SEGA back in the console business
e. M$ out of the OS business

Yeah but without the current recession more people would be buying games.
if the exchange rates were the same as 2006 Sony would have been making a profit since last year, right now each ps3 sold in the US makes 25% less money than it would in 2006 if you sell it at the same price. When you're selling at a loss already and that happens it is devastating.
With that said they were never gonna make back all the money they lost even if the exchange rates didn't change, they expected the PS3 to sell at $600
