Yeah good call. The Resistance 2 commercials were stupid.

It is very expensive to run those adds, however I can't say it is ridiculous. If you think about it, near 100million Americans watch the thing not counting other countries. So it can get your product out there and it can sale a lot of merchandise. |
last year the average price of a 30sec comercial was $2.7m. This year (with a recession) the minimum is $3m, which is $300k higher than the AVERAGE price of last year.
Granted I know it gets out to a lot of people, but that is still a lot of money considering people are spending less. Heck superbowl tickets are cheaper this year (scalped) than last year by ~$500.

Yes it would. Between 95 and 100 million people will watch the game this year. The odd thing about the Super Bowl is the advertisements get as much attention as the game.
I said this in the duplicate thread about this topic, this type of advertisement would never get aired during the Super Bowl. It is far too violent. It's hard enough to get an advertisement with a big chested woman in a tight t-shirt on the air. Plus, the linked ad is not they type of quality you would expect from a 52 second (5.2 million dollar) commercial.
Thanks for the input, Jeff.

If I am not mistaken, the amount of money the NFL charges is based off of how many people watched the previous year. And last years edition was the most watched ever. So of course they will get more $ out of it.
If this years Super Bowl underperforms then you will see next years add rates drop dramatically. It isn't based off of us being in a recession or not.

The broadcasting network determines the ad rates. The rates always increase regardless of the number of viewers or the economic climate.
