Forums - Gaming - Which are the worst/most disappointing games you've played, and why?

These are not the worst games BUT they disapointed me (compared to why I expected) :

Ico (PS2),

I bought it because where syaing it is an amazing underplayed game
but in fact, it is too short and the story is enought developped
(u dont really understand toe world u are in EVEN at the end)
disapointing for me

Tekken 5 (PS2),

Where is the improvement since Tekken 3 (except visual) ???

SoulCalibur 3 (PS2),

About the same thing, always the same old thing
(Namco should call me I will a game for them, I have the concept, give me the money and technology)

RE4 (PS2)

good game but ... absolutely not an horror game
more an action game quite far from RE1/RE2
I have the impression it is what the "RE team" wanted since the beginning ...

God of War (PS2)

it is good but overrated, the news things added (news spell/weapon) are useless, the heros from a tortured skilled heros (god1) become a crazy mad barbarian heros (god2)

FFXII (PS2)

bad character design, no soul story, strange combat system, bad "skill/magic/weapon" evolution system
Ivalice world was so better in Final Fantasy Tactics ...

FFVIII (PS)

A friend told me that for him, the gameplay was just amazing
but for me, the game is story is a bit crappy with the space sorcerrer that come from the future (they just take the FF4 story again again again in FF5/FF8 ... am I wrong ?)

Dawn of War, wahrammer 40.000 (PC)

hum, even if I bought the 2 add-on, there is something strange about this game, I dont like the reinforcement system and there are not enought different unit (u always make about the same thing except if u are a very good player). The game is quite hard for me in multiplayer ... I should not be done for this game ...

I don't understand how people can say I dislike FFVII because I am jealous of it or angry that it went away from Nintendo consoles... did any of the dozen or so reasons I gave say "FF belongs to Nintendo?" No, I didn't think so. I already said I bought my PSone to play the game. I obviously had no system allegiance or I would have done what a lot of stupid fanboys are doing because of Devil May Cry 4 being multiplatform: not bought the game! Not to mention I just said FFIX is one of my favorites, because it returned to it's roots. Even though the game was too easy it's my third favorite after VI and IV.

Do I not have the right to be disappointed about a game? Do all games that sell well have to be super awesome AAA titles? I think the tens of millions of copies the Madden franchise has sold will say otherwise (not that Madden is bad, just far from AAA). Yes I dislike the game. No, it has nothing to do with the console. If it was just the console I obviously wouldn't have played the game. I think the technical limitations of the console contributed to me not liking it, but that's certainly not the only reason. FFIX looked worlds apart in visuals and it was on the PSone.

Mmmmm GodFather(pc) kinda disappointed me. Car models sucked and just not the same as Mafia(pc)

Scarface(wii) went from annoying, to totally pissing me off, to piece of crap game.
Wow don't know what people see in that game. It not worth €10 a month.

Tekken 5(ps2) looked good but on easy you got painfully finger from all that button bashing.

I agree wholeheartedly. Me and three friends started playing the same day, i quit after three weeks but they're still going... The addiction factor was just nonexistant for me, it was more annoying with the "fetch this and that" quests and the hopelessly balanced PvP.

When someone says FF VI looks better than FF VII that's when you know he is running on nothing but nostalgia.

You gotta be blind to believe that. As far as which one is the better game I guess it depends on the person so that's debatable.

For the time, FFVII did some impressive stuff but it generally looked the crap (the cut scenes were great and the battles were good-- the rest looks bad). If you asked a random person to look at a screenshot from FFVI and another from FFVII (not battle or cinemat) they would probably tell you that FFVI looks better and wonder why that one polygon was spikey hair and why they forgot to give the black one a hand.

FFVII was my first FF, and I've yet to try 1-6, that's probably why I like it better than many NES and SNES hardcore players. But I must admit that the characters in FFVII are really poorly detailed! Amazing to see the jump in animation and visuals in FFVIII in comparison.

Lucky you. When you get addicted, it's a hard time trying to get out =P

Tell me about it.  I got addicted to it.  I was the top Shaman and class leader in a top end raiding guild.  I spent some 150 days clocked logged into that game in the course of a year and a half.  I don't know what it is that grabbed me about it.  I was gaining weight fast and it was having serious effects on my health (This is really sad, because I have prided myself on jogging for an hour a day since I was 15...).  I finally kicked the habit a little over a year ago and I'm back in shape again.  The only reason I was able to kick the habbit is someone who I had considered to be a friend got on my account and robbed the guild bank and bolted from the guild then transfered servers.  It pissed me off enough to be done with... thank God.

I was a shaman too, Don't remember how much time i played, but i leveled to 60 very slowly and some two months after i got out. All i wanted to do was play, go straight home after school while my friends were going to play soccer. When i got high level and going to real instances, that took 3-4-5 hours, nearly all the free times (late nights, weekends) i got i used to go to these raids. My grades started to go down and one day when my payment expired i looked at how addicted i was, losing my friday nights to play, and didn't renewed... Just left everything behind.

WoW destroys lives. One of the best episodes of any TV show in history is the WoW South Park episode, which is scarily accurate considering it's a giant joke. That game is a monstrosity that feeds off human souls. In the time I played that game I gained 50 pounds, broke up with a girlfriend of 2 years, and had my grade point average drop from a 3.8 to a 3.0. That game almost wrecked my life, and if I had kept playing I'm sure it would have.

ok i'm going with Blood Ryne and Wreckless both for the cube for obvious reason
for the record I didn't buy them i just for some reason played for no more then 4 min Wreckless was 1 minute tops.

However Sonic Adventure 2: Battle I remember really hoping this game was going to be the first good sonic and would return sonic to what it was. But the adventure was so dumb the game hardly focus on Sonic and they made you search for things ??? And the music and voice acting piss poor to say the least. Well i learned by lesson i will never play another 3D sonic ever again.
