Hmm. I'm not saying it's likely, but i can see it happening. Starting off multiplat should give it a real boost.
Resi 4 sold 4+ million BEFORE it was ported to wii (and is now at 6+ million if you include Wii Edition sales). If it wasn't a timed exclusive for Gamecube it could've had even better sales on the PS2 and overall.

If you provide contrary information, it's your job to cite it not every other person's to research it. If it's not a claim you care to back up, then don't, but don't expect anyone to pay attention to you.

I think it´s more than possible for RE5 to reach 5m copies combined. Is a big, well-known franchise and carries the legacy of the GOTY RE4. 500k day one on PS3 in Japan are high.
I could see 6m worldwide lifetime. As has been stated, RE4 did well on PS2 and GC and was still fresh enough to do well on Wii as a motion enhanced port.
The question is how the series will do on Xbox platforms, as its never actually been on Xbox platforms.
GC RE4 did 222k in Japan. PS3/360 RE5 in Japan should be 300k/100k at least lifetime. Preorders suggest the PS3 will have a bigger opening than the GC version in Japan.

500k day one in JP does seem high, but the LTD numbers really arent that far fetched. With RE5 being multiplatform I could see it reaching those numbers. The new style that alot of ppl dont like seems to also cater to a more mainstream audience which in the long run seems like it could help sales more than anything.

Your correct but the Xbox 360 is the leading platform right now in America and Europe. RE is a fan franchise//hype on the 360 alone with this game being "word of mouth" will make this game sell great.
RE5 is different then the past RE's too! I hope the Japanese can adapt to the new control scheme considering RE5 is more targeted to the western audience.
Its possible because they made it into more of a shooter like Gears of War rather than like the previouse ones
