Preorders suggest the PS3 will have a bigger opening than the GC version in Japan.

Your correct but the Xbox 360 is the leading platform right now in America and Europe. RE is a fan franchise//hype on the 360 alone with this game being "word of mouth" will make this game sell great.
RE5 is different then the past RE's too! I hope the Japanese can adapt to the new control scheme considering RE5 is more targeted to the western audience.
