i feel my brain melting
| Munkeh111 said: @ shio, the facts are, in the UK, it is £10 more expensive to download from steam than to order from amazon or play and that is also true for the special forces edition, when you don't even get the bonus items |
which doesn't stop anyone from being able to buy great promotions on Steam. Just like week we have 75% Off Soulstorm and Mount & Blade.
I don't understand why people keep saying they don't like that you can't sell Steam games - the used PC games market is nearly unexistant, especially in console-centric countries like UK. The only way to sell used PC games is on online auctions, which is also a bummer since you have to pay fees.
shio,
Ppl mite not wanna wait for special deals n promotions like that. If I decided to buy a game, usually a new game released within the last year or so rather than all these old games you love to list, I wouldnt wanna wait for Steam to decide when to buy it, I wanna get it right away.
For new games Steam is a rip-off.

Steam promotions arent only for old games. Soulstorm and Mount & Blade, both on Steam in promotion last week, are fairly recent games that came out in the last 12 months.
Infact, Steam often offers extra discount/stuff for pre-orders. Empire: Total War, for example, if you pre-order it on Steam they give you a free copy of Rome: Total War Gold (the original game + first expansion).
I think you are all forgetting that for the minimum specs you have to have the smallest battles (20 people per army), the worst graphics, and if you don't have an HD tv then you're just plain screwed!!
Anyway, I shit myself looking at those pics shio put up.

Hoping I can run this game!
And that's the only thing I need is *this*. I don't need this or this. Just this PS4... And this gaming PC. - The PS4 and the Gaming PC and that's all I need... And this Xbox 360. - The PS4, the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360, and that's all I need... And these PS3's. - The PS4, and these PS3's, and the Gaming PC, and the Xbox 360... Anyway, I'll probably buy it(retail) some time aftet it releases since I need a new computer. I'm a big fan of Total War games though, RTW being my favorite.

Yeah but Steam is not feeling any pressure from normal retailers, so why wouldn't they rip you off.
shio: I think some 75% of my games are used... And that's the same for both PC and console games. I've also bought almost every game I own, new and used, from an online stores and used games pretty much from an online auction. It's only some 2€ more to the price and takes two to three days to deliver. Would be longer if I ordered from some other country, though, but hey, I could still take it. Actually I've done so a few times already.
I won't give any of my money to Valve no matter how good the offer, especially if my "ownership" is all online. And of your examples... I don't like Bioshock (judging by the demo) and I already own pretty much all id games I'm interested in. Oh, and generally Steam isn't cheper anyway. If it weren't for my hate for DRM, I would already have fallen for Steam's offers, though.

Wow, you buy alot of new games. My games are like 5% new, 95% used.
I don't use vale either. Even though they are the best digital distribution guys, I will stick with gamersgate. The game itself is installed to your computer with no strings attached. Hell, their downloader app is still in developement, but you don't have to start it up each time your computer does. And it's faster than steam, but that could be because they have less content to buy right now.
Viva la Paradox!

So can I run it if I have an Intel Core 2 Duo @ 1.50 GHz? That is essentially the same as a 3 Ghz single core right? Canyourunit.com said I can run Europa Universalis III.
