My god, they're going to lose over a billion dollars in one day? At this rate the PS3 won't be around in February.

If they predict a 2 billion loss for the year, that's also taking into account all the profits they made the first half of the year. The loss could look far worse than people are anticipating. I predict lots of red ink. Spilt across the dash board

Tomorrow might just be one of the biggest fanboy days on VGC. I hope all the admins will be on. I for one am looking forward to a fanboy debate. I hope the best for sony.

I see... I see... Lots of losses, just about 1.7Billion that is.

This is going to be a tough day. I thought they would make a profit in the games division thanks to;

-Cheaper production of PS3, PSP, and PS2 with no price drop from the previous year
-Home bringing in some cash instead of just being a money sink
-The mass amount of content on PSN, and the inclusion of the video store
-A much larger library of games than last year, and a much larger userbase to purchase them
-And the fact that they made a nice profit last Q3

but after the announcemnt from Howard Stringer, I don't think we will be seeing that.

Personally, I am extreamly dissapointed in Sony as a whole, and this day is just going to piss me off even more. It is unacceptablke for a company that owns nearly half the worlds media to not be able to make a profit from its software. If I had enough shares in Sony to have a voice, every single one of the executives would be looking for jobs. I can not feel bad for people that have to big of egos to get things accomplished when they have so much handed to them. There is just no way to decscribe my disgust for the pathetic way Sony's higher ups have ran a once great company into such a terrible situation.

It will depend what they'll report tomorrow.

The 2.something billion Operating Loss that's projected is for the complete Financial Year, which was profitable the first two quarters.

Normally Q3 (holiday) sales are the best. So either the results of tomorrow will be quite ok, due to relatively strong holiday sales and Q4 will be a disaster or the strong Yen had such an impact on the profit margins that selling more is actually a bad thing for Sony, which would probably lead to an Operating Loss of 2 billion in this quarter alone.

Either way the results will be bad.

I'm most interested in the Game results, though. If they're close to zero SCE is doing (relatively) well, but it could also be close to 500million Operating loss, which would be disastrous for the most important quarter in the year.
